Legal Team Overview
The Legal Team at Foot Locker Europe consists of 10 members and covers a broad spectrum of legal, strategic, and business matters across the region.
Within this team, there is a dedicated Real Estate Legal Team, composed of two Associate Legal Counsels Real Estate and one Legal Counsel Real Estate, to whom the Associate Legal Counsels report. We are currently hiring for the Legal Counsel Real Estate position.
Scope of the Real Estate Legal TeamThis team handles legal matters related to real estate, construction, facilities, lease administration, and treasury-related issues. The scope of work includes all aspects of lease agreements, such as drafting, negotiation, and case management.
Description of the roleThe Legal Counsel Real Estate will report to the Associate General Counsel and should have a strong background in real estate law, with experience in both private practice and in‑house legal roles. A solid understanding of how various legal systems operate across jurisdictions is also necessary. This role requires someone who can drill down to the core of legal matters with precision, apply sound judgment and common sense, and make quick, informed decisions. You will collaborate closely with business partners from diverse backgrounds and nationalities, requiring strong interpersonal and cross‑cultural communication skills. The ability to present complex legal matters in clear, practical language is a key skill for this role.
Responsibilities- Managing, training, and developing two Associate Legal Counsels Real Estate.
- Leading pan‑European and international projects.
- Managing and preventing disputes.
- Standardizing processes, creating templates, optimizing workload, ensuring compliance, and managing costs.
- Managing the litigation strategy.
- Providing strategic legal business solutions and overseeing their implementation.
- Offering day‑to‑day support on both routine and complex real estate matters.
- Maintaining regular contact with business clients and responding promptly and accurately to requests, while ensuring high quality.
- Participating actively in legal department meetings and team activities.
- Working from the office at least three times per week.
- A university degree in law and approximately 7 to 9 years of relevant experience in a law firm or in the business environment, with experience in real‑estate transactions.
- Previous studying and working experience abroad are highly appreciated.
- Fluent in English and another European language is required (preferable French or German), both written and oral.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- A balanced, practical personality with a strong will to succeed and with interpersonal skills.
- Good judgment, high level of integrity.
- Willing to roll up the sleeves if needed and take charge of operational matters even if these are not legal.
- Able to present complex matters not only in a very detailed and fact‑based manner, but also be able to present this in an easy‑to‑understand manner.
