Do you want to be involved in the digital transformation of our life insurance? Together with a multidisciplinary team, you will work closely with the entire chain on further digitisation of our entire customer journey. Fostering our high customer satisfaction scores is central to this. For our team, we are looking for a talented Senior OutSystems Developer.
This is a 1-year freelance assignment.
What you are going to do
You will work with an Empowered Product Team that provides all applications to help our customers and advisors from A to Z with their life insurance (ORV). Our portals, built in Vue.js, will be used to facilitate the application process for new insurances. Also, our customers can fully self-manage their existing life insurances. With OutSystems we take care of our underlying Business Processes, back office systems and policy administration.
As an OutSystems Developer, you bring the expertise to collaborate closely with the other developers, analysts and testers in the team to develop these new applications. Our application requires many integrations not only with the portals in Vue.js but also with the central systems and components within NN. For this, you have a lot to do with other DevOps teams in NN.
Besides your development tasks, you are responsible for the quality and future-proofing of what you build. You are also closely involved in preparing the user stories, technically thinking through the best way to implement them, and helping the analysts in the team with your technical insight. You are a sparring partner for the Product Owner and together with the team, you take responsibility for achieving the sprint goals. Furthermore, you monitor the application architecture and code quality.
As a Senior OutSystems Developer, you play a leading role in designing and building new applications and integrations. You will:
- Collaborate closely with developers, analysts, and testers within the team, as well as with other DevOps teams across the organization
- Build and maintain a Business Process Management (BPM) application and our insurance administration, using agile/scrum methods
- Ensure high-quality, future-proof solutions, and take responsibility for the technical design and architecture
- Prepare and refine user stories, provide technical insight, and coach colleagues
- Act as a sparring partner for the Product Owner and help realize sprint goals
- Monitor application architecture and code quality
- Integrate with various systems, including customer administration, digital channels, CRM, and more
- Share knowledge and best practices within the OutSystems Community and the Center of Excellence

You build a bridge between our Front End developers (Vue.js) and OutSystems Developers.
You also bring:
- HBO or WO level of education
- At least 5 years of experience with OutSystems
- Experience in coaching colleagues, designing future-proof applications, and architecture within a complex IT landscape
- Experience with integrations (via APIs) with multiple third-party systems
- Dutch language skills
- A background in financial services, or the motivation to learn about it
Who you will work with
In our ORV DevOps team, you work directly with a product owner, OutSystems developers, Vue.js Developers, a business analyst, and a tester. You also collaborate closely with business representatives, business process managers, UX designers and other DevOps teams. We are a close-knit team with diverse backgrounds, continuously improving our processes together. We regularly organize retrospectives and feedback sessions to keep each other sharp and celebrate our successes.
