We’re looking for a proactive, organised, and client-focused Meeting & Events Sales Executive to bring energy, professionalism, and structure to every enquiry and corporate interaction. From intimate board meetings to multi-day conferences and everything in between, you’ll help craft seamless, memorable experiences in one of the city’s most storied hospitality venues.
Clayton Hotel Amsterdam American, part of the Dalata Hotel Group, is a 4-star, 173-room hotel nestled in one of the most beautiful art nouveau buildings in the Netherlands. Home to the legendary Café Americain and stylish Bar Americain, we serve guests from around the world with a culinary experience that’s as memorable as the setting.
Objective of the Role
As a Meeting & Events Sales Executive, you’ll be at the heart of our hotel’s commercial success, ensuring every meeting, event, and conference is delivered seamlessly, from first enquiry to final billing.
Working closely with the Meeting & Events Sales Manager, you’ll manage day-to-day sales activities, coordinate with internal departments, and deliver exceptional service to clients. Whether it’s a corporate meeting, multi-day conference, or bespoke event, you’ll ensure every detail is accurate, every communication is clear, and every opportunity to delight is maximised.
This is the perfect role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, loves building client relationships, and has a sharp eye for operational detail.
Key Responsibilities
Own the Sales Process
- Handle enquiries promptly and professionally, ensuring details are captured accurately in the Opera Sales & Catering system.
- Maximise sales by upselling catering options, refreshments, and event enhancements.
- Pass new leads daily to the Sales Team and support proactive sales initiatives.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of meeting & events packages, promotions, and competitor offerings.
Ensure Flawless Event Coordination
- Prepare accurate function sheets and maintain strong communication with M&E operations.
- Meet and greet organisers, ensuring expectations are aligned and event details are executed perfectly.
- Ensure billing instructions, contracts, and event details match client requirements and hotel standards.
- Keep digital display boards and client information up to date and 100% accurate.
Drive Communication Excellence
- Act as a key link between M&E Sales and M&E Operations, ensuring seamless handovers and consistent standards.
- Provide the Front Office with the tools and information needed to support enquiries outside conference operating times.
- Maintain strong daily communication with all hotel departments.
Support Operational Excellence
- Uphold departmental SOPs and ensure adherence to health, safety, and statutory requirements.
- Maintain client databases, reporting systems, and lead trackers with precision.
- Assist M&E Operations during busy times when needed.

- Experience in a meeting & events or sales-focused role (hotel experience is a plus)
- Strong communication and organisational abilities
- A proactive approach to sales, lead generation, and client care
- Ability to work under pressure while maintaining accuracy and professionalism
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Skills in Opera Sales & Catering (or similar systems) are an advantage
- Fluency in English or Dutch (additional languages are an asset)
- A flexible, team-oriented mindset, with the ability to support operations when needed
