You will join the local Finance team in the Netherlands and act as the key point of contact for all accounting, financial reporting and controlling activities. You work closely with local management and the corporate finance organisation, and you will manage one direct report. Together, you ensure reliable figures, strong controls and high‑quality insights for the business.
FunctieAs Financial Controller, you are responsible for the full financial cycle in the Netherlands entity, from accurate accounting and reporting to planning, analysis and internal control. You combine operational ownership with a proactive, advisory role towards management.
Accounting & Reporting- Own all accounting and financial reporting for the entity.
- Prepare timely and accurate financial statements and management reports for local management and the corporate office.
- Manage all general ledger activity, journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Ensure compliance with Dutch GAAP and relevant tax and reporting requirements.
- Lead financial audits, tax returns and year‑end reporting processes.
- Oversee day‑to‑day financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll support.
- Manage cash flow, working capital and invoice approvals.
- Ensure that financial processes are efficient, well‑documented and well‑controlled.
- Support budgeting and forecasting processes, ensuring accurate and timely financial planning.
- Analyse financial data, track key performance indicators and explain variances.
- Prepare clear financial reports and presentations for stakeholders.
- Support SaaS revenue reporting and related analyses.
- Build and maintain hands‑on reports and analyses in Excel and Power BI.
- Support the transition of legacy ERP systems to NetSuite; contribute to process design, testing and implementation.
- Evaluate, maintain and improve internal controls across all finance processes.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant financial, tax and regulatory requirements.
- Manage, coach and develop one direct report.
- Act as a sparring partner for management, combining a pragmatic mindset with a strong sense of ownership.
- BSc or MSc degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of accounting‑related experience.
- Solid knowledge of general ledger accounting, budgeting, forecasting, accounting standards and compliance regulations.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Professional proficiency in Excel; experience with Power BI is a plus.
- Fluent in spoken and written English; Dutch is an advantage.
- Knowledge of Dutch GAAP and Dutch tax regulations; US GAAP is a plus.
- Empathy and a genuine desire to support and collaborate with others.
- Pragmatic problem‑solving skills and critical thinking ability.
- Sense of urgency and the ability to prioritise based on business needs.
- At least 1 year of experience as a (Financial) Controller or similar role in a B2B environment.
- Experience with ERP transitions; knowledge of Twinfield and/or NetSuite is preferred.
- Familiarity with an IT/SaaS environment and related revenue models.
