Description
At BAM, we design, build, and maintain the infrastructure that keeps communities running. Our IT Foundation team plays a crucial role in making that possible. To support the growing demand for our ServiceNow platform, we are looking for a hands-on Junior Consultant IT Service Management (ITSM) to join our international team.
You will work in an environment where structure, service, and collaboration come together. This is a great opportunity to develop your skills in IT Service Management, gain experience with ServiceNow, and contribute to the digital foundation of one of Europe's leading construction and engineering companies.
What you'll do
As a Junior Consultant ITSM, you support the daily operations of BAM's ServiceNow platform. Your focus is on stability, accuracy, and service delivery within the ITSM processes. You'll work closely with senior team members to handle incidents, requests, and changes, ensuring smooth platform operation and high-quality support for users across the Netherlands, the UK and Ireland.
A typical day might start with reviewing new platform-related tickets in AskIT, checking whether workflows and forms are behaving as expected. You notice that a form validation rule needs a small tweak and discuss it with your senior colleague. After that, you help a user resolve a platform-related incident and update the related knowledge article to make future support easier.
In the afternoon, you join the team's daily meeting to discuss ongoing improvements, test a new catalog item and Flow, and document the configuration. Before finishing your day, you check system dashboards, tidy up some data entries, and close a resolved ticket - another small but valuable step toward a stable, user-friendly IT environment.
Your main activities include:
- Assisting in the configuration and maintenance of ITSM modules within ServiceNow,
- Supporting users with platform-related incident resolution and escalation,
- Performing basic configuration tasks such as form design, field creation, and UI policies,
- Maintaining catalog items, workflows, and service flows built in FlowDesigner,
- Managing user platform-access, -roles, and -groups
- Supporting data imports and ensuring data accuracy and integrity,
- Helping create and maintain reports and dashboards,
- Documenting configurations, procedures, and knowledge base articles,
- Collaborating with senior consultants, developers, and business stakeholders,
- Staying up to date on ServiceNow best practices and participating in training or certification programs.
This role is operational and detail-oriented, with a focus on continuity, structure, and reliability. You'll have the opportunity to learn from experienced colleagues and grow within the BAM IT Foundation organisation as your expertise develops.
Your team and work environment
You will join the IT Service Management Office, part of BAM's IT Foundation department, as the third team member delivering cross-divisional ITSM services to BAM Netherlands, UK & Ireland, and Corporate Centre.
The team works closely together and with stakeholders to maintain and improve the ServiceNow platform, known internally as 'AskIT'. The culture is open, structured, and collaborative. We support a hybrid working model that offers a healthy balance between working from home and the office. Our head office is in Bunnik, The Netherlands. If you're based in NL, you're expected to work from Bunnik regularly. If you're based outside the Netherlands, you're expected to work from your nearest regional office, with occasional travel to Bunnik.
