As Senior Application Manager - IT SRE Operations, you play a central role in ensuring the continuity, performance, and quality of our most business-critical systems across mobile and broadband services. From day-to-day reliability to long-term scalability, you combine deep technical expertise with strong governance skills to ensure our platforms don't just work-they thrive.

Imagine this: a high-traffic moment hits. Thousands of customers are streaming, calling, and switching between data-hungry apps. But everything runs smoothly. Why? Because you've anticipated the load. You've automated key processes, built self-healing systems, and set up proactive monitoring that keeps our infrastructure resilient-long before any bottlenecks can form.

At 3 AM, an anomaly pops up in system performance. But before anyone notices, your automation kicks in, reroutes, corrects, and prevents an outage. The next day, you lead the root cause analysis and turn learnings into future-proof solutions. It's this blend of tech mastery and operational maturity that makes the difference.

You don't just manage systems-you govern them. From vendor performance and stakeholder engagement to AI/GenAI integration and SRE best practices, you drive the entire delivery chain with accountability and precision. You translate strategy into architecture, incidents into improvement, and complexity into clarity.

And let's be clear: long-term experience in the telecom industry is not just preferred-it's essential. Without a deep understanding of telecom systems, mobile and broadband landscapes, and their operational pressure points, we simply cannot move forward with your profile. Your core responsibilities:

Transformation Program Leadership

  • Lead high-impact transformation programs including:
    • OSS/BSS replacement or upgrade
    • Cloud migration strategy (IaaS/PaaS/SaaS)
    • Agile at scale rollout (SAFe)
    • DevOps and CI/CD enablement
  • Ensure effective governance, change management, and stakeholder buy-in

IT Application Operations

  • Lead end-to-end operations of IT infrastructure supporting mobile and broadband services, including OSS/BSS, Cloud platforms, CRM, billing, and self-care portals.
  • Ensure 24/7 availability, performance, and security of mission-critical telecom systems and services.
  • Own and manage SLAs for incident response, change management, and service delivery using ITIL and SRE principles.
  • Automate repetitive tasks and infrastructure as well as Application monitoring.

SRE & Hands-On Technical Oversight

  • Apply SRE practices to build resilient, fault-tolerant systems with a focus on observability, automation, and performance tuning.
  • Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines,  infrastructure-as-code (IaC), and automated monitoring and alerting tools.
  • Use metrics like SLOs, SLIs, and error budgets to balance reliability with velocity.
  • Perform hands-on troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and system performance tuning.

Compliance & Best Practices:

  • Ensure all applications comply with security, regulatory, and audit requirements.
  • Follow ITIL or DevOps frameworks to ensure smooth delivery and operations.

Monitoring & Incident Response:

  • Define and maintain observability (monitoring, logging, tracing) for all production applications.
  • Lead root cause analysis (RCA) and post-incident reviews to prevent recurrence.

Telecom Domain Expertise:

  • Work with telecom OSS/BSS systems such as CRM, billing, provisioning, mediation, and  inventory tools.

Cross-Functional Collaboration to deliver Operational platform availability and NPS

  • Partner with:
    • Marketing/Product: Product lifecycle management, campaign systems
    • Sales & CX: CRM, service automation, omnichannel workflows
    • Network: OSS integration, inventory alignment, network slicing enablement
    • Finance/HR: ERP integration, workforce planning, billing reconciliation

Zero-Touch Operations & AIOps

  • Enable predictive monitoring, anomaly detection, and self-healing using AI/ML across OSS and IT.
  • Integrate AIOps tools to reduce alarms, false positives, and response times.

You will also be responsible for

  • Managing Major Incidents, driving technical resolutions and improve Mean time to repair for Incidents.
  • Manage & Lead Technical Resilience , Disaster Recovery and Business continuity Planning for Odido IT Applications.
  • Automated Software Deployment - Deploy technical Changes to the platform and applications
  • Take ownership for Production Environment management and assure 99.999% platform & application landscape.
  • Take ownership of incident management, ensuring that incidents are swiftly and thoroughly handled by our IT suppliers. Lead or participate in outage response calls, quickly resolving incidents and minimizing downtime
  • Take ownership of Technical problem management, identifying potential improvements and making sure long-term issues are addressed effectively.  Look at call drivers for potential preventive fixes.
  • Lead the Continuous Improvement program: Oversee and enhance incident-response processes, ensuring lessons learned translate into structural improvements.
  • Oversee and enhance the IT architecture and processes, ensuring lessons learned translate into improvements with respect to service reliability, scalability, efficiency and customer experience.
  • Design and implement proactive monitoring strategies using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, and Kibana to improve system performance and reliability.
  • Act as the bridge and advisor between technology and people, making sure both IT stakeholders and Business stakeholders understand each other and are convinced of each other's interests.
  • Technical Application Management - Understand the key/critical flows and assure 24*7 availability for application flows. 
  • Troubleshooting & Debugging: Analyze and fix system issues in a complex distributed environment and application stack
  • On-Call Rotation: Participate in on-call schedules, ensuring 24/7 coverage for mission-critical systems.
  • Engineering Best Practices: Advocate for DevOps and SRE principles, mentoring junior engineers on automation and operational excellence.

Must-haves

  • A Bachelor's or HBO degree in IT or a related field-or equivalent experience.

  • 10+ years of experience in IT operations, in telecom environments.

  • A solid track record in application management, both hands-on and in a leadership capacity.

  • Experience managing applications in large-scale, complex organizations.

  • Hands-on skills in user and functional application management, and basic SQL/database knowledge.

  • A strong analytical mindset and a natural drive to solve operational challenges.

  • Excellent planning, stakeholder management, advisory, and communication skills.

  • A customer-first attitude-you care deeply about improving services for real users.

  • Strong understanding of SLAs, SLOs, and performance management.

  • Proficiency in at least two scripting or programming languages used in automation.

  • Experience with distributed systems, technical recoveries, and root cause analysis.

  • Hands-on exposure to public cloud (AWS, Azure), container platforms (Docker, Kubernetes), and modern infra-as-code approaches (e.g., CloudFormation).

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of AI-driven and predictive monitoring tools or GenAI integrations.

  • Relevant certifications such as ITIL Foundation/Intermediate, AWS, Azure, or data/analytics certifications.

  • A strong grasp of storage, caching, queueing, and networking technologies.

  • Willingness to learn or improve your Dutch language skills-this is a Dutch-first work environment, and long-term engagement requires language confidence.
