The role
As the Contract Manager Cost & Claim (manufacturing) at Damen Naval, you act as the interface between management, technical, financial and administrative content in a naval shipbuilding project. You ensure the changes related to the requirements, documentation or configuration of the project are correctly translated into the modifications, upgrades, and adjustments into the end-to-end ship design. The key objective of this position is the management of Variations to Contract (VTC) and claims.
Key accountabilities
As the Contract Manager Cost & Claim (manufacturing), your key responsibilities will include:
- Performing Variations to Contract (VTC) & Claim management.
- Suggesting and/or supporting change identification and initiation in a project.
- Processessing end-to-end changes of requirements, documents and configuration items initiated by the customer, partners, subcontractors, suppliers, or the Class standard.
- Ensuring that modifications, upgrades, and adjustments to naval capability projects are seamlessly integrated while adhering to agreed requirements, project timelines, budget constraints, and quality standards.
- Verifying correct assignment of the appropriate change management level.
- Defining, executing and/or delegating impact analysis actions.
- Monitoring progress and following-up with change action holders.
- Organizing and preparing Change Board meetings at the appropriate levels.
- Drafting minutes of meeting and/or maintaining progress logs for changes.
- Initiating change implementations and ensuring implementation actions are planned, executed and communicated.
- Ensuring the closure of changes after implementation and verification thereof.
Skills & experience
To excel as the Contract Manager Cost & Claim (manufacturing), you should possess the following qualifications and qualities:
- 5+ years of relevant experience applying law- and finance-related knowledge in an engineering, manufacturing or shipbuilding context.
- Experience in contract management including negotiations; preferably acquired in a large business environment.
- Experience with negotiations and dealing legal disputes with clients.
- Knowledge and understanding of a judicial matters and contract management in a manufacturing, shipbuilding or defense context.
- Bachelor or Master's degree preferably in law or a financial study or engineering field of expertise.
- Good command of the English, and preferably also Dutch language (written & verbal).
- Excellent references antecedents as a pre-employment security screening is standard part of the recruitment procedure.
- Permanent EU citizenship and passport are both required and candidates with NL/EU (work) visa or with both an EU and non-EU nationality and/or passport are not eligible in accordance with the requirements imposed by the military nature of our projects.
