For the winter term of 2026/27, we are seeking a professor (m/f/d) for the degree program Operations Research at IU International University, initially limited to 2 years at our campus in Cologne, part-time, starting on October 1st, 2026.
Your tasks
- You represent the field of Operations Research in teaching and research on-site at our IU campus and become part of an extensive network in the field of higher education. (For more insights, see the coursebook).
- You develop and lead face-to-face lectures on Campus and are responsible for the individual supervision of our students during their exams and while they prepare their thesis.
- You teach practice-oriented fundamental knowledge in Operations Research and are capable of training our students in the following areas: Operations Management and Business Mathematics.
- You contribute to the creative development of teaching formats within IU’s didactic concept and collaborate closely with colleagues to further develop these formats.
Your Profile
Delivering practice-oriented content and passing on knowledge to the next generation – this is the core approach of IU International University. Therefore, we are seeking an expert in Operations Research who brings professional experience and who also possesses strong academic expertise and didactic skills to contribute these to teaching at IU.
- You successfully completed a university degree in Operations Research or a related field with outstanding academic performance and hold a relevant doctoral degree (Ph.D.).
- You have at least five years of practical work experience, including three years outside university, and may have already gained initial experience in academic teaching.
- You demonstrate your expertise in the relevant subject areas through publications or projects.
- You work team-oriented and reliably and are committed to in-person teaching while also being proficient in conducting virtual lectures.
- You reside permanently in Germany.
- You have English language skills at C1 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
The employment requirements are governed by the Higher Education Law Thüringen.
