How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    * Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils who may have experienced barriers to education or struggled in mainstream settings.
    * De-escalating challenging situations using calm, consistent and appropriate behaviour management techniques.
    * Supporting pupils to re-engage with learning, improve attendance and develop positive relationships.
    * Working closely with teachers, SENCOs, pastoral teams and other professionals to ensure consistent support.
    * Maintaining a safe, structured and nurturing learning environment.
    * Supporting pupils with additional needs, including SEMH, ADHD, autism and trauma-related difficulties where appropriate to the role.

    Who We're Looking For

    We would love to hear from candidates with experience in roles such as:
    * SEMH Teaching Assistants and Support Workers.
    * Behaviour Support Workers and Behavioural Specialists.
    * Pastoral Support Workers and Learning Mentors.
    * Specialist SEMH Teachers.
    * Youth Workers or professionals with relevant experience supporting children and young people with behavioural needs.

    Essential requirements:

    * Relevant experience supporting children or young people with SEMH needs, behavioural difficulties or additional needs.
    * A patient, resilient and empathetic approach.
    * Confidence managing challenging behaviour and supporting emotional regulation.
    * Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
    * The ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations.
    * References covering the last two years of employment and/or relevant activity history.
    * All gaps in employment or activity history must be fully explained and accounted for.
    * For teaching positions, QTS or an appropriate recognised teaching qualification, as required for the role.
    * An enhanced DBS check, or willingness to undertake the necessary safeguarding checks.
    Relevant qualifications in behaviour support, SEMH, SEND, youth work or trauma-informed practice are desirable, depending on the position.
    What Aspire People Offer
    * Long-term, short-term and day-to-day opportunities across Bury and the surrounding areas.
    * Competitive rates of pay.
    * Opportunities in mainstream schools, alternative provisions and specialist SEMH settings.
    * Support from a dedicated education recruitment team.
    * Opportunities to develop your experience in specialist behavioural and SEMH support.
    * The chance to make a genuine difference to pupils who need additional support to succeed in education.
