How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Pastoral Support Assistant - Primary School

    Full-Time & Part-Time Opportunities | Manchester & Surrounding Areas | Aspire People

    Aspire People are recruiting caring, resilient and proactive Pastoral Support Assistants to work within primary schools across Manchester and the surrounding areas.

    This role is ideal for someone who understands that a child's emotional wellbeing, relationships and sense of security can have a significant impact on their ability to learn. You will help pupils overcome barriers to learning by providing encouragement, consistent support and positive guidance throughout the school day.

    You may work with children who struggle with confidence, friendships, attendance, behaviour or managing their emotions. Working alongside teachers and school pastoral teams, you will help pupils develop the skills they need to engage positively with school life.

    The Role:

    * Providing individual and small-group pastoral support for primary-aged pupils
    * Building positive, trusting relationships with children while maintaining professional boundaries
    * Supporting pupils who experience emotional, social or behavioural difficulties
    * Helping children develop confidence, resilience and positive relationships
    * Supporting emotional regulation and appropriate responses to challenging situations
    * Encouraging positive behaviour, attendance and engagement with learning
    * Helping pupils manage friendship difficulties and resolve conflicts appropriately
    * Supporting transitions, breaktimes and other less structured parts of the school day
    * Sharing relevant observations and concerns with teachers and pastoral staff
    * Following safeguarding procedures and school policies at all times

    The Ideal Candidate:

    * Has recent UK-based school experience within the last two years, ideally in pastoral, behaviour or pupil support
    * Has experience supporting children with emotional, social or behavioural needs
    * Is approachable, patient and able to build positive relationships
    * Can remain calm and consistent when dealing with challenging situations
    * Understands the importance of confidentiality, professional boundaries and safeguarding
    * Communicates effectively with pupils, teachers and other professionals
    * Is committed to helping children feel safe, included and ready to learn

    Experience in pastoral support, mentoring, behaviour support or SEMH provision would be particularly beneficial.

    Why Work with Aspire People?

    * Opportunities across a range of primary school settings
    * Daily supply, short-term and long-term placements
    * Competitive daily pay rates
    * Support from a dedicated education recruitment consultant
    * Opportunities to develop experience in pastoral care and pupil wellbeing

    If you are passionate about supporting children's wellbeing and helping them overcome barriers to learning, apply today to discuss pastoral opportunities with Aspire People.

    Aspire People Limited provides services as an Education Agency and an Education Employment Business. Aspire People is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of pupils and expects every candidate to share this commitment. Placements are subject, to appropriate Child Protection screening, including checks with former employers and the Disclosure and Barring Checks
