How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Location: North West England
    Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time

Experienced Heavy Plant Engineers Encouraged to Apply – Crane Experience Not Essential!

Paradigm Employment Services is recruiting on behalf of an established and expanding UK crane hire specialist seeking an experienced Crane Engineer / Heavy Plant Engineer to join its engineering team.

Our client is particularly interested in engineers with strong technical experience across heavy plant, construction machinery, hydraulics, electrical systems and engines who are keen to develop their skills within the specialist crane industry.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing, family-run business with a modern fleet, excellent earning potential and access to specialist manufacturer training.

    The Role

This is a varied engineering position combining field-based work with time spent in the company's workshop and yard.

You will be responsible for diagnosing faults, servicing, maintaining and repairing specialist lifting equipment, ensuring machinery operates safely, efficiently and reliably.

    Key responsibilities include:

    *

Servicing, maintaining and repairing cranes and heavy mechanical equipment.

    *

Diagnosing and resolving hydraulic, electrical and mechanical faults.

    *

Working on engines, hydraulic systems and associated components.

    *

Carrying out planned preventative maintenance and breakdown repairs.

    *

Attending sites to provide engineering support and minimise equipment downtime.

    *

Maintaining accurate service, maintenance and repair records.

    *

Working closely with the wider engineering and operations teams.

    *

Ensuring all work is completed to the highest health and safety standards.

    About You

We are particularly interested in hearing from engineers who have experience working with:

    *

    Heavy plant and construction machinery.

    *

Excavators, earthmoving equipment or similar mobile plant.

    *

Cranes, lifting equipment or specialist machinery.

    *

Hydraulic systems, electrical systems and diesel engines.

    *

Mechanical maintenance, servicing and fault diagnosis.

Previous crane experience would be an advantage but is absolutely not essential.

The ideal candidate will have strong practical engineering knowledge, particularly in hydraulics and electrical fault-finding, with the confidence to diagnose problems and carry out repairs independently.

You will also be flexible, willing to travel to sites when required and keen to develop your technical expertise.

    What's on Offer?

    *

Circa £50,000 basic salary, depending on experience.

    *

    Overtime opportunities to increase earnings.

    *

Fully fitted company van and fuel card.

    *

Specialist manufacturer training, including Kobelco and Liebherr.

    *

    Ongoing training and career development.

    *

22 days' annual leave plus bank holidays.

    *

    Company pension.

    *

    Quality PPE provided.

    *

    Annual medicals.

    *

Opportunity to join a successful and expanding specialist business.

    Interested?

Whether you're already working within the crane industry or are an experienced Heavy Plant Engineer looking for a new challenge, we'd be keen to hear from you.
