How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Senior Authorised Person (SAP) / Authorised Person (AP) – North of England / UK – Package Negotiable

Are you an experienced SAP or AP with a background working on DNO electrical infrastructure?

Do you hold current or previous authorisations relevant to HV switching and safety-critical operations?

Are you comfortable taking responsibility for switching, isolations and the issue of electrical safety documentation?

Would you be interested in joining a smaller, growing HV business where you can become a key part of the operational structure?

If the answers are yes, we are hiring for an experienced Senior Authorised Person or suitably qualified Authorised Person to join a specialist HV engineering business delivering projects across the UK.

This isn't about joining a huge organisation and becoming another number. You'll be joining a smaller business with a strong project book and the opportunity to become an important part of its operational capability as it continues to grow.

    WHAT YOU NEED...

Current or previous SAP/AP authorisation within a DNO, IDNO or closely aligned HV environment

    Strong practical HV switching experience

Competence in electrical isolations, earthing and safe systems of work

Experience preparing and working to switching schedules

Experience issuing and controlling safety documentation including Permits to Work and Sanctions for Test

A sound understanding of HV distribution equipment, switchgear, transformers and protection systems

Strong understanding of operational safety rules and procedures

Experience working on DNO infrastructure or networks operating to comparable safety rules

Ability to work independently and take operational responsibility

Flexibility to travel to projects across the UK

    Full UK driving licence

    What You Get In Return...

Salary and overall package negotiable depending on authorisations and experience
Permanent position within a growing specialist HV business
    UK-wide portfolio of HV projects
Opportunity to become a key part of the company's operational structure
    Significant autonomy and responsibility
Long-term opportunity as the business continues to develop
    Company Vehicle
Competitive Benefits package tailored within reason

    Nice To Haves

    Existing Senior Authorised Person status

    Current DNO authorisations

Previous authorisations with organisations such as Northern Powergrid, Electricity North West, National Grid Electricity Distribution, UK Power Networks, SP Energy Networks or SSEN Distribution

Experience across multiple HV voltage levels

    Testing, commissioning or protection experience

Experience working across both DNO and private HV networks

    Day To Day

You'll support the safe delivery of HV works across a growing UK project portfolio.

You'll undertake and control HV switching, isolations and earthing, prepare switching schedules and manage the appropriate electrical safety documentation.

You'll work closely with engineers, technicians, contractors and customers to make sure HV activities are planned and carried out safely and correctly.

Depending on your level of authorisation, you'll act as SAP or AP across projects and provide the operational competence required for work on HV networks.

This is a mobile role and projects can be located throughout the UK, so you'll need to be comfortable travelling and staying away when projects require it. A Northern base would be advantageous, but we'd rather find the right person than restrict the search geographically. INDWIN
