About the Role
We are recruiting on behalf of an established organisation providing specialist mental health and supported accommodation services for adults with complex needs.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced COMHAD Specialist Worker to join a dedicated team supporting individuals experiencing co-occurring mental health and substance misuse difficulties.
This position would particularly suit someone currently working within substance misuse, mental health or dual diagnosis services who is looking to develop their career within a specialist recovery-focused environment.
The successful candidate will play an important role in helping individuals achieve their personal recovery goals, develop independence, improve their wellbeing and reduce their reliance on clinical interventions and hospital admissions.
Working within a person-centred, strengths-based approach, you will provide practical, emotional and structured support to individuals with complex needs, encouraging positive change and sustainable recovery.
Key Responsibilities
You will manage a varied caseload of individuals experiencing mental health difficulties alongside alcohol or substance misuse, providing tailored support based on individual needs and recovery goals.
The role involves completing holistic assessments, developing personalised support and risk management plans, monitoring progress and identifying appropriate interventions to support recovery and independence.
You will deliver structured individual and group-based interventions, including substance misuse awareness, relapse prevention and recovery-focused activities.
Working collaboratively with mental health professionals, drug and alcohol services, supported accommodation providers and other external agencies, you will help ensure individuals receive coordinated and effective support.
You will also be responsible for recognising changes in mental health presentation, responding appropriately to emerging risks and supporting individuals to access additional services when required.
An important part of the role involves promoting community engagement, independent living skills, positive relationships and opportunities for education, training and employment.
You will maintain accurate case records, contribute to multidisciplinary meetings and participate in regular supervision, training and ongoing service development.
About You
We are looking for a compassionate, motivated and experienced professional with a strong understanding of mental health, substance misuse and the challenges associated with dual diagnosis.
You must have previous experience supporting adults with enduring mental health needs, substance misuse difficulties or other complex support requirements.
Experience of managing a caseload, completing assessments, developing support plans and delivering recovery-focused interventions is essential.
You will need a minimum Level 3 qualification in Health and Social Care or an equivalent qualification, alongside a good understanding of the Mental Health Act, Care Act and relevant safeguarding practices.
Excellent communication, organisation and relationship-building skills are essential, together with the ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary professionals.
You should be confident in recognising signs of deteriorating mental health, maintaining professional boundaries and responding appropriately to challenging situations.
A full UK driving licence would be advantageous but is not essential.
What We Offer
This is an opportunity to join a supportive organisation committed to improving outcomes for individuals experiencing mental health and substance misuse challenges.
The benefits package includes access to employee wellbeing support, discounts, online GP services and gym savings.
Employees also benefit from a workplace pension scheme, death-in-service cover equivalent to twice their annual salary and company sick pay following 12 months of continuous service.
Annual leave entitlement is equivalent to 22 days plus statutory bank holidays, increasing to 25 days after three years of continuous service, with entitlement calculated pro rata for part-time employees.
Relevant training, regular supervision and opportunities for continued professional development are also provided.
Additional Information
This position is subject to satisfactory pre-employment checks, including Right to Work verification, employment history checks and an Enhanced DBS check.
