How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Our client, a leading international multidisciplinary engineering consultancy, is looking to appoint an Associate Civil Infrastructure Engineer to join its established Infrastructure Group in Manchester.

    This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Civil Infrastructure Engineer to take on a senior technical and leadership role, working on a diverse portfolio of complex projects in the UK and internationally.

    You will contribute to the delivery of infrastructure solutions ranging from local highways, utilities and sustainable drainage schemes through to major masterplanning and city-scale developments. Working collaboratively with colleagues across multiple disciplines, you will be involved throughout the project lifecycle, from initial planning and concept design through to detailed design and implementation.

    The successful candidate will play a key role in developing the infrastructure team, delivering technically challenging projects and supporting the continued growth of the business.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Lead the delivery of multidisciplinary infrastructure projects, managing technical quality, programme, resources and financial performance.

    * Oversee and review civil infrastructure designs from initial project proposals through to construction.

    * Manage, mentor and develop technical staff, coordinating workloads and supporting the progression of junior engineers.

    * Prepare and review technical reports, specifications, schedules and other project documentation.

    * Contribute to business development and work-winning activities, helping secure new projects and strengthen client relationships.

    * Promote continuous improvement, innovation and sustainable infrastructure design, including reducing embodied carbon.

    * Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated engineering solutions for UK and international projects.

    Requirements

    * Strong technical experience in civil infrastructure design, with expertise in at least one core discipline: highways, utilities or sustainable drainage.

    * Demonstrable experience leading technical delivery and managing multidisciplinary projects.

    * Proven ability to manage, motivate and develop engineering teams.

    * Excellent communication, presentation and client-facing skills.

    * Commercial awareness, including project resource planning, financial management and project performance monitoring.

    * Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D and MicroDrainage.

    * Membership of a relevant professional institution.

    * A flexible approach to work, with a willingness to travel where required.

    What's on Offer?

    * 25 days' annual leave, plus bank holidays.

    * Hybrid working arrangements.

    * Car allowance equivalent to 10% of basic salary.

    * Company pension scheme.

    * Life assurance and income protection.

    * Flexible benefits, including cycle-to-work schemes, dental and optical cover, travel insurance and corporate discounts.

    * Early finish at 3pm on the last Friday of each month, subject to business requirements, potentially providing the equivalent of up to four additional days off annually.

    * The opportunity to work on high-profile UK and international projects within a collaborative, inclusive and technically ambitious environment.

    * Excellent opportunities for career development and progression within a globally recognised consultancy.
