How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Communications Executive – Content, PR & Marketing - Remote | Salary £32k + Benefits | Remote / Home-based, with occasional travel to BASC head office

The British Association for Shooting and Conservation (BASC) is looking to appoint a Communications Executive to join its content team, supporting communications, PR, digital marketing and content activity across a wide range of online and offline channels.

Working closely with the Head of Digital Content and Internal Communications and the wider communications directorate, you will help identify content opportunities, develop communications assets and ensure BASC’s key messages are delivered clearly and effectively to its audiences.

This is a varied role covering communications, content creation, digital marketing, social media, PR, media relations and campaign support.

    The role

    You will:

Source, develop and produce engaging content across channels including press releases, blogs, podcasts, social media, newsletters, website updates, magazine content and other publications.
Help manage and grow BASC’s social media presence, including planning, publishing, engagement and performance monitoring.
Support the delivery of PR campaigns, events and announcements.
Assist in developing relationships with journalists, bloggers and media outlets, including coordinating interviews and media opportunities.
Help ensure BASC, sustainable shooting and conservation are fairly and accurately represented across online and offline media.
Support crisis communications activity where required.
Monitor communications and media performance and contribute to reporting and continuous improvement.
Work with regional teams to produce communications materials for game fairs, conferences, seminars and trade shows.
Support the creation, publication and proofing of reports and other internal and external documents.
Help maintain consistent brand tone, style and quality across all communications activity.
    About you

Your background could be in communications, PR, content, digital marketing, social media or a broader marketing and communications role.

You will have a degree or professional qualification in communications, public relations or a related field, or equivalent experience, together with proven experience in a communications role and a strong portfolio of content and campaign delivery.

    You should also have:

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    Strong attention to detail.
Experience of social media planning, publishing, engagement and performance reporting.
Confidence producing digital content assets such as basic graphics, short-form video and image editing.
Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively across teams and with external partners.
A creative, proactive approach and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Familiarity with media monitoring and PR tools would be desirable.

Knowledge and understanding of shooting, the countryside and the key issues affecting the sector would also be desirable, but is not essential. BASC is open to candidates from broader communications or marketing backgrounds who can demonstrate the ability and willingness to understand and communicate confidently around new subject areas.

A full UK driving licence is essential.
