How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Location: Manchester
Salary: £50,000 - £60,000 dependent on experience, plus company car or allowance and discretionary bonus

NEOS Engineering is working with an established business unit in Manchester and is looking for an experienced Rail Project Manager to run individual rail projects within an existing profit centre.

This is a role with real ownership. You’ll be responsible for delivery, budgets and customer satisfaction, and for building a pipeline of work through new and existing clients.

    The Role

Manage individual rail projects, developing and delivering budgets in line with forecasts and expectations.
Define project scope and objectives with all relevant stakeholders, ensuring technical feasibility and resource allocation.
Manage projects, processes and procedures to achieve right first time and customer satisfaction.
Read, interpret and implement contracts, with support from the management and commercial teams.
Seek out and develop new and existing rail opportunities, generating quotations and taking them through to tender.
Set clear, measurable goals to build a culture of performance linked to the overall strategy.
Manage costs and improve efficiency to increase profit centre performance and profitability.
Deliver operations in line with company HV and LV Safety Rules, and maintain health and safety standards in line with company policy and legislation.
Work on installations up to 11kV.
Visit projects as and when required, while based in the Manchester office.
    The Candidate

We’re looking for a customer-focused Rail Project Manager with a strong electrical background and the people skills to lead, motivate and develop a team.

    You’ll ideally have:

5+ years’ experience managing rail projects.
Demonstrable experience of developing and managing a team.
Detailed knowledge of the HV/LV electrical engineering services industry and its markets.
Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate at all levels.
A commercial mindset, comfortable with budgets, contracts and tendering.
Flexibility around project requirements, including some overtime when needed.
    Relevant qualifications:

NVQ Level 3 or above in Electrical Engineering.
IOSH or SMSTS (H&S for Managers).
A higher qualification in Electrical Engineering would be advantageous.
Previous experience winning and developing rail clients would be particularly useful.

    The Opportunity

Take ownership of rail projects within an established Manchester business unit.
Play a key part in growing the pipeline of work and developing clients.
Salary of £50,000 - £60,000 dependent on experience, plus company car or allowance.
Discretionary bonus based on business unit performance.
Private healthcare (BUPA), pension and £25 monthly gym contribution.
Working hours of 8.00am - 4.30pm Monday to Thursday and 8.00am - 3.30pm Friday (37.5 hours per week).
If you’re an experienced Rail Project Manager looking for your next opportunity in Manchester, we’d be keen to hear from you
