How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

I’m working with an established consultancy looking to appoint a CDM Principal Designer to support its growing technical services offering. This is an opportunity to take ownership of CDM responsibilities across a varied project portfolio, advising clients and working closely with design and construction teams to manage health and safety risks.

    The Role
You’ll provide CDM Principal Designer services throughout the project lifecycle, helping clients meet their regulatory obligations and ensuring health and safety is embedded from the earliest stages of design through to construction.

    Key responsibilities include:
Preparing and maintaining Health & Safety Files and Pre-Construction Information.
Reviewing Construction Phase Plans and advising clients on their duties under CDM 2015.
Coordinating design risk assessments and identifying opportunities to eliminate or control foreseeable risks.
Liaising with clients, designers, Principal Contractors and wider project teams to coordinate health and safety responsibilities.
Advising on duty-holder appointments, competency requirements, F10 notifications and project arrangements.
Undertaking site safety audits and reviewing health and safety provisions during construction.
Supporting the development of technical guidance, standardised processes and best practice across the wider business.
    About You
You’ll have experience delivering CDM Principal Designer services and a sound understanding of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015.

You’ll be confident advising clients, coordinating multiple stakeholders and managing design and construction-related risks. Relevant membership or training through APS, RICS, RIBA, CIAT or CIOB would be advantageous.

    The Opportunity
This role offers the chance to contribute to the continued development of a technical services function, work collaboratively with multidisciplinary property professionals and help shape consistent standards and best practice across a wider consultancy.

If you’re an experienced CDM Principal Designer considering your next move, I’d welcome a confidential conversation to discuss the opportunity in more detail.
