How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Location: Ellesmere Port, Cheshire
Benefits: 1015% pension contribution, private healthcare, annual bonus and free on-site canteen

Are you an experienced environmental professional ready to make your mark on some of the UK's most significant infrastructure developments?

Do you have experience with environmental permit and planning applications?

This is an opportunity to take your expertise beyond business-as-usual environmental management and play a pivotal role in a multi-billion-pound portfolio of major projects, supporting the development of the infrastructure needed to help shape the UK's low-carbon future.

The client are seeking a Senior Environmental Specialist to join its Capital Projects team at Stanlow. Working closely with the Environmental Lead, you'll take ownership of key environmental deliverables, influence project decisions and help navigate the complex planning, permitting and regulatory challenges associated with major onshore industrial and brownfield developments.

If you thrive on technical challenges, enjoy working across complex projects and want to see your expertise translate into real-world impact, this is a role worth exploring.

    Why this opportunity stands out

Work on major infrastructure: Be at the forefront of an extensive, multi-billion-pound project pipeline, contributing to developments of significant scale and complexity.

Support the low-carbon transition: Help deliver the infrastructure that will contribute to the UK's evolving energy and industrial future.

Make a real impact: Take ownership of environmental workstreams and influence project outcomes from planning and permitting through to approval and compliance.

Grow your influence: Work closely with senior leadership, project teams, specialist consultants and regulatory stakeholders, with the opportunity to deputise for and support the Environmental Lead.

    The role

As Senior Environmental Specialist, you'll play a key role in ensuring environmental requirements are integrated into the successful delivery of major capital projects.

    Responsibilities

Leading and coordinating environmental deliverables across multiple infrastructure developments.
Managing key elements of Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA), environmental permitting applications and supporting technical studies.
Providing expert advice on UK environmental legislation, planning requirements and regulatory frameworks.
Supporting TCPA and Development Consent Order (DCO) applications, alongside the discharge of planning conditions and other environmental requirements.
Managing specialist environmental consultants and consultancy contracts, including financial oversight.
Engaging with regulators, local communities, internal project teams and external technical specialists to support successful project approvals.
Ensuring environmental compliance, robust reporting, audit readiness and continual improvement across the project portfolio.

    What you'll bring

You'll be an established environmental professional with a proven track record of delivering environmental workstreams on complex engineering, infrastructure or industrial projects.

    You'll ideally bring:

A degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering or a related discipline.
Chartered status with a relevant professional institution, such as ISEP or CIEEM, or a credible plan to achieve this within 18 months.
Strong knowledge of UK environmental planning, permitting and regulatory requirements.
Demonstrable experience in EIA, environmental permitting and the management of planning and environmental commitments.
Experience coordinating consultants, managing project deliverables and balancing environmental compliance with commercial and operational priorities.
Excellent stakeholder management, analytical and communication skills, with the confidence to engage with senior leaders and regulatory authorities.
Experience with ISO 14001 environmental management systems, UK ETS, ESOS, CL or specialist environmental engineering studies would also be advantageous.

Ready to make your next move count?

If you're a senior environmental specialist looking for a role where your expertise will help shape major infrastructure developments, influence important project decisions and contribute to the UK's low-carbon future, we'd like to hear from you.

Take the next step in your career and help shape what comes next.
