How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Quantity Surveyor

Location: Peterborough or Bradford, Hybrid, 2-3 days a week in the office

    Salary: £51,936.25

Hours: Monday – Friday, 35 hours per week, 9am to 5pm

    Contract: Permanent

We believe everyone should have a safe and affordable place to call home. It’s this belief that drives everything we do and inspires us to go above and beyond for our customers. We pride ourselves on understanding their needs and delivering the best customer service, every time.

We’re also proud to be at the forefront of change. We’re on a journey of transformation, finding new ways to support our customers and our people. If you’re looking for a career where you can learn new skills, try new things and shape your future, there’s a place for you at Accent.

    The Role

As our Quantity Surveyor, you’ll provide commercial support across Accent’s responsive repairs and voids contracts, helping us make the best use of our resources while delivering safe, quality homes for our customers. Working within Property Services, you’ll manage and monitor costs, review quoted works, valuations and variations, and provide clear financial insight so our services remain well controlled, compliant and focused on value for money.

You’ll work closely with colleagues and contractors, offering practical commercial advice on costs, schedule of rates compliance and risk. By challenging costs where appropriate, identifying efficiencies and supporting procurement, you’ll help teams make informed decisions and continuously improve our repairs and maintenance services without compromising service quality or customer outcomes.

    Salary

The spot salary for this post is £51,936.25 per annum for applicants who fully meet the requirements of the post. If you’re still developing some of the skills or experience, you can start at a salary 5% or 10% below the spot rate, with clear support to reach the full amount.

    About You

You’ll be a commercially focused Quantity Surveyor who can combine strong technical knowledge with a practical, collaborative approach. You’ll be confident analysing costs, advising stakeholders and managing competing priorities, while keeping value for money, service quality and customer outcomes at the heart of your decisions.

A Quantity Surveying qualification at HNC, HND or degree level, or an equivalent qualification.

Good knowledge of construction contracts, schedules of rates, cost control and commercial management.

Strong financial analysis and reporting skills, with the ability to review costs, valuations and supporting evidence accurately, as well as financial regulatory knowledge.

A good understanding of responsive repairs, voids and property maintenance, including relevant health and safety (CDM knowledge and requirements would be an advantage).

Excellent communication, stakeholder management and strong prioritisation skills, with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

Confidence using cost management, housing or property management systems and other operational software.

Previous experience working in housing, local authority or construction industry would be an advantage.

The ability to travel occasionally to Accent sites and off-site meetings, with a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.

The successful applicant will be subject to pre-employment checks, such as DBS and social media screening, before an offer is confirmed.
