How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job Description

PK Education are recruiting for an experienced Pastoral Administrator to join a large, well-established secondary school in Sheffield.

This is a full-time temporary position throughout November, with the possibility of extending until Christmas depending on school requirements.

The school is an established 11–16 secondary with a strong community focus and a commitment to supporting students both academically and personally. With a particular emphasis on inclusion, positive behaviour and student wellbeing, the school aims to create an environment where every young person feels supported and encouraged to succeed.

This is an excellent opportunity for an organised and approachable individual who enjoys working with young people and wants to play an important role in supporting the school's pastoral team.

The successful candidate will work closely with pastoral leaders, teaching staff and senior management to provide essential administrative support, helping ensure students receive the guidance and support they need throughout the school day.

    The Role

Providing administrative support to the school's pastoral and student support teams

Maintaining accurate student records, behaviour logs and attendance information

Supporting Heads of Year and pastoral leaders with day-to-day administration

Communicating with parents, carers and external agencies

Monitoring and updating student information using school management systems

Assisting with the organisation of pastoral meetings and student support interventions

Preparing letters, reports and other pastoral documentation

Handling sensitive student information professionally and confidentially

Supporting the wider school team with safeguarding and wellbeing administration

Helping maintain a positive and supportive environment for students

    The Ideal Candidate

Previous experience in school administration, pastoral support or a similar role

Experience working within a UK secondary school is highly desirable

Confident using school management systems such as SIMS, Arbor or Bromcom

Strong administrative, organisational and IT skills

Excellent communication skills when dealing with students, parents and staff

Understanding of safeguarding, confidentiality and student wellbeing

Calm, approachable and able to manage competing priorities

Able to settle quickly into a busy school environment

Available throughout November, with potential availability until Christmas

Hold, or be prepared to undergo, an Enhanced DBS Check

Why Is This a Great Opportunity?

This is an opportunity to work within an established Sheffield secondary school that places student wellbeing, inclusion and personal development at the heart of its approach.

The school recognises the importance of strong pastoral support in helping young people overcome barriers to learning, develop confidence and achieve their potential.

For someone with experience in school administration or student support, this role offers the opportunity to work closely with an established pastoral team and make a meaningful contribution to the day-to-day running of the school.

With a consistent full-time timetable throughout November and the possibility of extending until Christmas, this is an ideal opportunity for someone seeking immediate temporary work within education.
