How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Trainee Medical Field Service Engineer

Location: North West England (Manchester / Liverpool area)
    Salary: £30,000-£33,000 + Company Van + Fuel Card + Overtime + Benefits

Are you looking to build a career in medical engineering? Do you have some hands-on experience with electrical or mechanical equipment and a willingness to learn?

An exciting opportunity is available for a Trainee Medical Field Service Engineer to join a growing healthcare engineering business, supporting hospitals and healthcare facilities across the UK.

Full product and technical training will be provided, making this an excellent opportunity for a junior engineer or technician looking to develop specialist skills and build a long-term career within the medical sector.

    The Role

You'll be field based, installing, servicing, demonstrating and repairing specialist equipment used within hospital environments, including operating lights, pendants, operating tables and bedhead trunking systems.

    Your responsibilities will include:

Installing and commissioning medical equipment and associated systems.

Carrying out routine servicing, maintenance and repairs.

    Supporting electrical and mechanical fault-finding.

Demonstrating equipment to customers and explaining how it operates.

Building strong relationships with hospital staff and other customers.

Completing service reports and maintaining accurate records.

Working alongside experienced engineers while developing your technical knowledge.

    Location & Travel

The ideal candidate will be based in the North West, within easy reach of Manchester or Liverpool. The role involves regular travel between the North West and Scotland, particularly Glasgow and Stirlingshire, alongside wider UK travel, including occasional trips to London. Overnight stays are expected, typically around 5 nights per month.

A flexible approach to travel and staying away from home is essential.

    Hours

Monday-Friday, 39 hours per week including travel.

Overtime paid at time and a half.

    What We're Looking For

We're looking for an enthusiastic, practical individual who wants to learn, develop and progress within a growing business.

    You'll ideally have:

Some hands-on experience working with electrical, mechanical or electromechanical equipment.

A practical approach to troubleshooting and problem-solving.

Good communication skills and confidence interacting with customers.

The ability to demonstrate equipment and explain technical information clearly.

A positive attitude, strong work ethic and willingness to learn.

A genuine interest in building a long-term engineering career.

    GCSEs or equivalent qualifications.

    A full UK driving licence.

Previous experience in field service, maintenance, installations or customer-facing technical support would be advantageous. Experience working in a hospital or healthcare environment would also be beneficial.

Previous medical equipment experience is not essential. Full product and technical training will be provided, so practical ability, attitude and a willingness to learn are key.

    What's on Offer?

Salary of £30,000-£33,000, depending on experience.

    Company van and fuel card.

Overtime paid at 1.5 times the standard rate.

£25 allowance for each night spent away.

    Company laptop and mobile phone.

    Company pension.

28 days' annual leave including bank.

    Full product and technical training.

Long-term development and progression opportunities within an expanding business.

    Interested?

If you have a practical engineering background, enjoy working with equipment and are keen to develop your skills within the medical sector, this could be an excellent opportunity to build your career.
