How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Water Leak Detection Technician

Location: Ideally Epping (N.W. M25) Cheshunt, Brentwood (or nearby)

    Salary:  £65,000 - £80,000 per annum

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9am start (occasional weekend work available)

    About Harmuns

Harmuns is a 5-star-rated specialist in non-invasive water leak detection, based in Windsor, Berkshire. We work across London, the Home Counties and the South-East, helping homeowners identify and resolve leaks accurately, efficiently and with minimal disruption.

Due to continued growth, we are looking for a Water Leak Detection Technician to join our expanding team, ideally based around Epping, Cheshunt, Brentwood or the surrounding areas.

    The Opportunity

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced leak detection technician, heating engineer or plumber looking for a new challenge.

If you have a strong technical background and enjoy investigating problems, this role offers the chance to move away from heavy lifting, repetitive breakdown work and the physical demands often associated with traditional heating and plumbing roles.

You don't need previous leak detection experience. We'll provide full training and ongoing support to help you master our specialist equipment, techniques and processes.

We're looking for someone who is technically capable, reliable and trustworthy, with a methodical approach to problem-solving and the confidence to work independently while delivering excellent customer service.

    The Role

You'll be responsible for locating, accessing and repairing water leaks across a range of systems, including central heating, hot and cold water supplies, waste pipework and mains water pipes.

Using modern, non-invasive technology, you'll investigate leaks, identify their likely source and carry out appropriate repairs wherever possible. You'll also produce clear, professional reports supported by photographs, helping customers understand your findings and the work completed.

    Specialist equipment and techniques include:

    Thermal imaging cameras
    Tracer gas detection
    Acoustic listening equipment
    Moisture meters
This is a full-time role initially offered on an exclusive contractor basis, with the opportunity to transition to a permanent PAYE position with enhanced benefits, including a pension.

    Key Responsibilities

Locate and investigate hidden water leaks using specialist detection equipment.
Drain down central heating systems and introduce tracer gas where required.
Access and repair pipework where appropriate.
Investigate leaks across heating systems, hot and cold feeds, waste and mains pipework.
Produce clear daily reports, including written findings and photographic evidence. Full training will be provided.
Manage your appointments and workload professionally, working independently on site.
Represent Harmuns positively by delivering a high standard of workmanship and customer service.
    About You

    Ideally, you'll have:

Experience working for a leak detection company, although this isn't essential.
At least five years' experience in heating engineering and/or plumbing.
Gas Safe registration, preferably, although this isn't essential.
Strong technical knowledge and a practical, problem-solving mindset.
Excellent communication skills and confidence dealing directly with customers.
The ability to work independently, manage your time effectively and take pride in your work.
    A full UK driving licence.
Ideally, your own van and the standard tools used by a heating engineer or plumber, although this isn't essential.
No specialist IT skills are required. We'll provide training on our reporting systems and equipment.

    Package & Benefits

    £65,000–£80,000 per annum earning potential.
    Monday–Friday working, with a 9am start.
Generally one job per day, allowing you to focus on quality rather than quantity.
Full initial training and ongoing development.
    Uniform supplied.
    Occasional weekend work available.
Opportunity to move into a permanent PAYE position with enhanced benefits, including a pension and bonus.
The chance to join a growing, customer-focused business that values quality, professionalism and getting the job done right.
