How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Make a Difference Where Safety Matters Most
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Fire Risk Assessor to join our Estates and Facilities team, helping to safeguard patients, visitors, staff, and critical healthcare services across our hospital estate.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in ensuring compliance with fire safety legislation and NHS fire safety standards within a complex healthcare environment. You will undertake comprehensive fire risk assessments across acute, community and support buildings, working closely with Estates, Clinical Teams, Capital Projects and senior stakeholders to reduce fire risk and improve resilience.
    About the Role
As Fire Risk Assessor, you will be responsible for conducting, reviewing and maintaining fire risk assessments across a diverse property portfolio. You will identify hazards, evaluate risk control measures and develop practical action plans that support patient safety, business continuity and regulatory compliance.
You will also provide expert advice on fire safety matters relating to building alterations, refurbishment projects and operational changes, ensuring compliance with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and relevant NHS guidance.
    Key Responsibilities
Conduct fire risk assessments across healthcare, clinical, administrative and support facilities.
Review existing assessments and ensure findings are regularly updated and accurately documented.
Identify fire hazards, evaluate risks and recommend proportionate control measures.
Support compliance with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, Health Technical Memoranda (HTMs) and NHS Firecode guidance.
Work with Estates and Capital Projects teams on refurbishment and new-build schemes.
Monitor completion of fire-related remedial actions and provide progress reports.
Advise managers and staff on fire safety best practice.
Support internal and external audits, inspections and regulatory visits.
Analyse fire safety performance data and contribute to Trust-wide risk management programmes.
Assist in developing fire safety policies, procedures and training materials.
    About You
We are looking for an experienced professional with a strong understanding of fire safety legislation and practical fire risk assessment within complex occupied buildings.
    Essential Criteria
    Recognised Fire Risk Assessment qualification.
Membership of a relevant professional body such as IFE, IFSM, IFPO, CABE or equivalent.
Proven experience undertaking fire risk assessments in large or complex premises.
Detailed knowledge of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, NHS Firecode Guidance, HTM 05 Series, PAS 79 Methodology and relevant British Standards.
    Excellent report-writing and communication skills.
Ability to prioritise workload and manage multiple sites and stakeholders.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and fire risk management systems.
    Desirable
Experience within NHS, healthcare, local authority, education or large public sector estates.
NEBOSH Fire Safety Certificate or Diploma.
Experience supporting capital projects and healthcare design reviews.
Knowledge of healthcare fire engineering principles and evacuation strategies.
    What We Offer
Competitive NHS salary and pension scheme.
    Generous annual leave entitlement.
Flexible and hybrid working opportunities where appropriate.
Continuous professional development and funded training.
Access to NHS staff benefits schemes.
Opportunity to contribute to patient safety across one of the UK's most important public services
