How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Full-time or Part-time
    Permanent

Are you a hands-on Health & Safety professional who enjoys making a difference on the factory floor?
Do you enjoy working with people and turning compliance into practical, everyday improvements?

We are searching for a proactive Health, Safety & Compliance Officer to join a specialist manufacturer, where traditional craftsmanship meets modern manufacturing.
This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of day-to-day health and safety, environmental and quality management systems, working closely with factory and office teams to create a safer, more efficient and compliant workplace.

    The role.

No two days will be the same! You will play a key role in keeping people safe, strengthening compliance and driving continuous improvement across the business.

    Your responsibilities will include:

    – Championing workplace safety by leading risk assessments, identifying hazards and helping teams put effective controls in place.
    – Getting out on the factory floor to spot risks, promote safe working practices and challenge unsafe behaviours constructively.
    – Engaging and empowering colleagues through inductions, toolbox talks and practical health and safety training.
    – Taking ownership of integrated management systems, covering ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
    – Coordinating audits and certification by planning internal audits, preparing for external assessments and ensuring corrective actions are completed.
    – Supporting environmental compliance and coordinating FSC requirements, factory certification and inspection programmes, including extraction systems and lifting equipment.
    – Investigating incidents and managing contractor safety, helping prevent repeat issues and embed a positive safety culture.
    – Driving continuous improvement by working with managers and employees to make compliance practical, effective and part of everyday operations.
You will have support from the Operations Director, internal colleagues and specialist advisers when needed. Operational managers will retain responsibility for safe working within their departments, while you provide the expertise, guidance and constructive challenge to keep standards high.

    The ideal candidate.

Will be someone who combines technical knowledge with a practical, people-focused approach. Be confident building relationships, asking the right questions and helping colleagues find workable solutions.

    Ideally have:

    – A NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety, or a higher relevant NEBOSH qualification.
    – Hands-on health and safety experience within manufacturing or a similar industrial environment.
    – Experience maintaining ISO management systems and supporting or coordinating audits.
    – A sound understanding of risk assessments, safe systems of work, workplace inspections and employee training.
    – Strong communication skills, with the confidence to challenge constructively and influence positive change.
    – Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to follow actions through to completion.
Confidence using Microsoft 365 and digital record-keeping systems.
Experience in construction, environmental compliance, FSC requirements, integrated ISO systems or external certification audits would be a real advantage. Internal auditor training would also be beneficial.

    Benefits include:
    – Flexible working options: Full-time and part-time applications welcome, with salary adjusted pro rata for part-time hours.
    – Supportive working environment: Work alongside experienced colleagues and receive support from the Operations Director.
    – Generous annual leave: 23 days’ holiday plus Bank Holidays.
    – Additional benefits: Company events, employee discount, referral programme and free on-site parking.

This role is immediately available for the right candidate therefore please do submit your CV to Jon Goodman by email or telephone (phone number removed) quoting J10687.
