How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

CPS Group are working with a growing business based in South Wales that is investing heavily in technology, transformation and its long-term future. They are looking for a Lead Business Analyst to join their team in Newport and take ownership of requirements definition, stakeholder engagement and the identification and prioritisation of IT projects.

This is a senior position where you'll work across all levels of the organisation, influencing key decisions and ensuring business requirements are translated into high-quality technology solutions.

    The Role

Reporting to the Senior IT Programme Manager, you'll work closely with Programme Managers, Project Managers, Solution Architects, business sponsors and senior stakeholders.

    You'll be responsible for:

Working with project sponsors to analyse, define and document IT and business requirements.
Leading a team of Business Analysts and working alongside IT Solution Architects to assess requirements and identify appropriate solutions.
Managing technology tender and supplier selection processes where required.
Producing investment papers covering project costs, risks, timelines and financial forecasting for approval.
Supporting the transition of approved initiatives through to Project Management and delivery.
Coaching and mentoring Business Analysts, promoting best practice across the team.
Organising and facilitating workshops with key stakeholders.
Managing multiple requirements, stakeholders and priorities simultaneously.
Supporting wider business activities where your knowledge and expertise can add value, including training, communication and testing.
Influencing decision-making and helping to ensure IT programmes and projects are clearly defined, prioritised and aligned to business needs.

    About You

We're looking for an experienced Lead Business Analyst who is comfortable operating at both strategic and operational levels and can build strong relationships across a complex organisation.

    You'll ideally have:

Significant experience working as a Business Analyst, ideally at Lead/Senior level.
    A degree-level qualification.
Strong requirements gathering, analysis and documentation experience.
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
    Experience facilitating workshops.
Experience working across IT programmes, projects and business change.
The ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively with multiple stakeholders.
Experience leading, coaching or mentoring other Business Analysts.

    Desirable

BCS, ISEB or equivalent Business Analysis qualification.
PRINCE2 Foundation or equivalent project management qualification.
    ITIL experience or qualification.
Experience within a utility, infrastructure or similarly complex organisation.

If you're an experienced Business Analyst ready to step into a senior role with significant influence over IT programmes and business change, we'd be keen to hear from you.
