How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

We’re looking for an ambitious, hands-on Senior Civil Engineer who wants to make a real impact, take ownership of projects and play a key role in the continued growth of our business in the North-west.

This is an exciting opportunity to join an established, award-winning engineering consultancy at a pivotal point in its development. With nearly 40 years of experience and a strong reputation for technical excellence, they’re building on our success and investing in the future of the Liverpool team.

    Who we are

An award-winning consulting engineering practice with decades of experience, extensive technical expertise and a friendly, proactive approach that our clients value.

Multidisciplinary expertise which spans Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Geo-Environmental and Transport, enabling us to deliver integrated solutions across a wide range of sectors and projects.

From initial concept through to completion, they combine imaginative thinking with rigorous design, commercial awareness and practical engineering to deliver solutions that are cost-effective, robust and buildable.

    The role

As a Senior Civil Engineer, you’ll play a key role in delivering infrastructure projects from concept through to completion. You’ll work closely with clients, colleagues and other stakeholders, combining technical expertise with strong project management and commercial awareness.

You’ll have the opportunity to lead your own projects, contribute to the development of the Liverpool team and support junior colleagues as they progress in their careers.

This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys remaining involved in the technical detail while taking responsibility for project delivery, client relationships and the successful development of the business.

    Your responsibilities will include:

Leading the design and delivery of civil engineering and infrastructure projects across a range of sectors, particularly residential development.
Managing projects from initial feasibility and concept design through to detailed design, approvals and construction.
Developing effective working relationships with clients, local authorities, statutory bodies and other project stakeholders.
Preparing and coordinating highway, drainage and infrastructure designs, ensuring they are technically robust, commercially viable and practical to deliver.
Working with relevant highway and drainage adoption processes, including Section 278, Section 38, Section 185 and Section 104 agreements.
Coordinating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated engineering solutions.
Supporting, mentoring and sharing your knowledge with junior engineers.
    About you

You’ll be an experienced civil engineer who combines sound technical knowledge with a proactive, commercially minded approach. You’ll enjoy working collaboratively, building strong client relationships and taking ownership of projects from start to finish.

    Ideally, you’ll bring:

At least six years’ experience in a UK civil engineering design consultancy, with experience across a range of sectors and, in particular, residential development.
Strong technical knowledge of infrastructure design, including highways and drainage.
Experience with Section 278, Section 38, Section 185 and Section 104 agreements.
Proficiency in relevant design software, such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, InfoDrainage, WinDes or equivalent packages.
Experience in client liaison, project coordination and managing project deliverables, with a good understanding of commercial considerations.
A hands-on approach and a genuine interest in remaining involved in design, project management and delivery.
Excellent organisational, communication and presentation skills.
The ability and enthusiasm to mentor junior colleagues and contribute to a positive team culture.
You’ll be ambitious, approachable and keen to take the next step in your career, with the opportunity to develop your leadership skills and play a meaningful role in the growth of their Liverpool office.

    Why join?

Competitive salary: £40,000–£60,000 per annum, depending on experience, with scope to discuss this with the right candidate.
Flexible holiday allowance: Supporting a healthy work-life balance.
Company pension scheme: Helping you plan for the future.
Hybrid working: Flexibility to balance office collaboration with working remotely.
Interesting and challenging projects: Work across a diverse portfolio of civil engineering and infrastructure schemes.
Real autonomy: Take ownership of your projects and make a meaningful contribution to their success.
Career progression: Develop your technical expertise, leadership skills and long-term career prospects.
A growing team: Help shape the future of our Bristol Civil Engineering team and contribute to the continued success of the business.
A supportive working environment: Join a friendly, collaborative consultancy that values technical excellence, fresh ideas and professional development
