How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated Quantity Surveyor to work on a varied portfolio of projects, develop their technical expertise and build strong client relationships within a supportive consultancy environment.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to take ownership of projects, work closely with experienced professionals and continue progressing their career within quantity surveying.

    The Role

As a Project Quantity Surveyor, you will be involved in the commercial management of projects from inception through to completion, working alongside clients, contractors and the wider project team.

    Responsibilities will include:

Providing cost management and quantity surveying services across a range of projects.
Preparing cost plans, estimates and tender documentation.
Managing procurement processes and analysing tender returns.
Administering contracts and managing variations and change control.
Monitoring project costs, budgets and expenditure throughout the project lifecycle.
Preparing valuations, cost reports and final accounts.
Liaising with clients, contractors, consultants and other stakeholders.
Supporting the delivery of projects to agreed budgets, programmes and quality standards. About You

The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic and commercially minded Quantity Surveyor with experience working within a consultancy or similar professional environment.

    You will have:

A degree in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
Experience delivering quantity surveying and cost management services on construction projects.
A good understanding of procurement, cost planning, contract administration and commercial reporting.
    Strong communication and client-facing skills.
The ability to manage workloads effectively and work both independently and as part of a team.
A desire to continue developing professionally, with support towards MRICS chartership where required. The Opportunity
Join an established consultancy with a strong professional reputation.
Work on a varied portfolio of construction projects.
Develop your technical skills and take on increasing responsibility.
Benefit from working alongside experienced industry professionals.
Progress your career within a supportive and collaborative team. Interested in finding out more?

If you’re a Project Quantity Surveyor based in or around Exeter and would be interested in exploring a new opportunity, I’d be happy to have a confidential conversation and provide further details.

Please get in touch to discuss the role.
