How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    * Proactively updating customers on shipment progress, delays and key milestones.

    * Reviewing and processing import documentation accurately and in line with operational requirements.

    * Processing supplier invoices and ensuring costs are captured correctly.

    * Escalating any shipment issues or risks and providing regular updates to management..

    What You'll Bring

    We're looking for an individual who combines operational knowledge with a strong customer-focused approach.

    Ideally, you will have experience within ocean freight imports and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment where attention to detail and organisation are key to success.

    You'll bring:

    * Previous experience within Ocean Imports or Freight Forwarding Customer Services.

    * A solid understanding of ocean freight operations, documentation and shipping processes.

    * Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective working relationships.

    * The ability to prioritise workloads and manage multiple shipments simultaneously.

    * Commercial awareness and an understanding of how operational performance impacts profitability.

    * Confidence working under pressure and meeting deadlines.

    What's In It For You?

    At Metro, we believe our people are our greatest asset. That's why we offer a competitive benefits package designed to support your wellbeing, development and future career growth.

    Benefits include:

    * Discretionary bi-annual bonus scheme.

    * Health Cash Plan.

    * Retail, leisure and gym discounts.

    * Octopus Electric Vehicle Scheme.

    * Free on-site parking.

    * Company pension scheme.

    * Ongoing learning and development opportunities.

    * Supportive and collaborative working environment.

    * Recognition and reward programmes.
