How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Quality Inspector
    £33,384.00
    Bedford
    Monday to Thursday 2pm - 12am

Join a well-established manufacturing business where quality is central to everything produced and delivered to customers. This is a hands-on role in a busy Bedford operation, giving you ownership of inspection activities from goods-in through to final release. You will play a key part in protecting customer satisfaction and ensuring products consistently meet demanding technical and regulatory requirements.

    About the Role:

The Quality Inspector is responsible for ensuring that materials, components, assemblies, and finished products meet defined quality requirements and customer specifications. The role focuses on inspection and verification activities throughout the manufacturing process, ensuring non-conforming products are identified, contained, and reported promptly to maintain product quality and customer satisfaction. The Quality Inspector supports manufacturing operations by providing objective verification of product conformity and maintaining accurate quality records.

    Key Responsibilities:

Inspect incoming materials, components, and assemblies against specifications, engineering drawings, purchase orders, and quality requirements.
Record incoming inspection results, maintain appropriate records, and ensure traceability of materials.
Identify, clearly label, and segregate non-conforming materials, supporting supplier quality activities with inspection data and evidence.
Perform in-process inspections at defined manufacturing stages, verifying products against engineering drawings, build instructions, SOPs, visual work instructions, and customer specifications.
Conduct dimensional, visual, and functional inspections, ensuring critical quality characteristics are achieved and supporting process and layered process audits when required.
Carry out final inspections and testing prior to shipment, verifying completeness of inspection and test records and confirming finished products meet customer, regulatory, and internal requirements.
Identify, document, and contain non-conforming products, raising NCRs, supporting investigations with inspection evidence, and participating in corrective action activities.
Maintain accurate inspection and test records, support calibration checks of inspection equipment, and contribute to the creation, review, and improvement of inspection criteria, quality documentation, and work instructions.
Follow company Health & Safety requirements, maintain a clean and organised inspection area, ensure compliance with ISO 9001 procedures, and support audit activities through provision of quality records and evidence.
    Key Requirements:

Proven experience working in a manufacturing environment performing product inspections.
Strong attention to detail with a quality-focused mindset and high levels of accuracy and consistency.
Good numerical and measurement skills, with practical experience using inspection and measurement equipment.
Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications to verify product conformity.
Hands-on experience using Vernier calipers, micrometers, and height gauges for dimensional inspection.
Basic understanding of ISO 9001 requirements, inspection techniques, sampling methods, non-conformance control, and quality documentation.
Demonstrated ability to identify and document non-conformances and support containment activities.
Strong organisational skills, responsibility, integrity, and professional communication, with the willingness to challenge quality concerns appropriately.
Ability to work collaboratively within a team and contribute to a strong quality culture.
    Desirable Skills:

    Experience inspecting electro-mechanical assemblies.
Background in cooling systems or HVAC manufacturing environments.
Exposure to inspection of pipework, brazing, welding, or pressure testing.
Experience performing First Article Inspection (FAI).
    Familiarity with low-volume, high-mix manufacturing.
Knowledge of workmanship standards and acceptance criteria.
    Qualifications:

Technical qualification, engineering apprenticeship, or equivalent manufacturing experience.
Formal quality inspection qualification or certification desirable.
Good written and verbal communication skills in English.
Additional training in ISO 9001, inspection methods, or metrology would be advantageous.
If you are a detail-focused inspector who takes pride in preventing defects and supporting high-quality manufacturing, this role in Bedford offers a solid platform to apply and develop your skills.
