How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    About Us

The Disability Resource Centre is an award-winning charity helping people affected by disability or long-term health conditions. We are an independent organisation and a registered charity that has disabled people at the centre of its decision making.

    Our Vision

Empowering people of all ages who are affected by disability or health conditions to fulfil their potential and aspirations.

    Our Mission

The Disability Resource Centre is here so that disabled people and their families have somewhere to turn if they feel alone and need help in any situation. We want all disabled people, those with long term health conditions and their carers to know that we are here to support them.

    About The Role

We are looking for an accurate, organised and customer-focused Payroll Administrator to support our busy Direct Payments payroll service. You will help deliver timely and compliant payroll services for individual employers and Personal Assistants, while providing helpful support by telephone and email.

This is a varied role for someone who is confident managing end-to-end payroll tasks, maintaining clear records and working with employers, service users, HMRC and pension providers

    Key responsibilities

Set up and maintain payroll records for employers, including HMRC registrations, employment information, pension arrangements and payroll files.
Accurately process weekly and monthly payroll data, including pay, tax, National Insurance, pensions, holiday pay, statutory payments, expenses and deductions.
Produce and distribute payslips and complete payroll year-end processes and statutory documentation.
Administer monthly pension contributions and payments through NEST, manage auto-enrolment requirements and submit pension declarations by statutory deadlines.
Prepare and submit HMRC documentation, including RTI submissions, reports and year-end returns.
Respond to payroll and finance-related telephone calls, emails and enquiries, providing guidance within agreed boundaries.
Maintain accurate records for audits and local authority reporting, and support payroll-related invoicing and payment monitoring.
Work closely with colleagues across Payroll, Direct Payments, Holding Accounts and Finance to maintain an accurate and responsive service.

    About You

    You will have:

At least two years' experience working in a busy payroll environment.
    Experience of end-to-end payroll processing.
Working knowledge of HMRC regulations and payroll systems.
Strong accuracy, attention to detail and organisational skills.
Confidence using payroll and finance systems, Excel and digital filing tools.
A clear understanding of confidentiality and data protection.
The ability to manage your workload proactively and effectively within a part-time role.
A commitment to equality, inclusion and the rights of disabled people and carers.

Experience using BrightPay, Xero or NEST, working in a payroll bureau or Direct Payments environment, producing payroll or financial reports, or working in a charity or social enterprise would be desirable.

    How To Apply

Please submit your CV together with a cover letter explaining why you are interested in the role and how your experience meets the requirements.

As a Disability Confident Leader, we are committed to ensuring our recruitment process is inclusive and accessible to all. We particularly welcome applications from disabled people, those with long-term health conditions, and people with caring responsibilities.

If you meet the minimum essential criteria for the role and declare a disability, you will be offered a guaranteed interview under our inclusive recruitment policy.
