How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

At Connect it Utility Services, we deliver utility infrastructure projects that power communities and support the UK's critical networks. We are looking for an experienced Cable Pulling Manager to lead and coordinate cable installation activities across our power projects, ensuring safe, efficient and high-quality delivery in line with customer, DNO/IDNO and project requirements.

This is an exciting opportunity for a driven operational leader with strong underground power cable installation experience to play a key role in the continued growth of our power delivery capability.

    Responsibilities

    * Lead and manage cable pulling activities across multiple power infrastructure projects, ensuring work is delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with approved specifications and programmes.

    * Coordinate cable pulling teams, supervisors, subcontractors and specialist resources to support project delivery objectives.

    * Ensure approved RAMS, pulling plans, site controls and safe systems of work are implemented and followed.

    * Verify route readiness, including ducts, trenches, chambers, joint bays, access arrangements and associated infrastructure before mobilisation.

    * Ensure cable installations comply with approved drawings, cable schedules, DNO/IDNO specifications and manufacturer requirements.

    * Oversee cable handling and installation activities, ensuring pulling tensions, bend radius requirements and installation techniques remain within approved limits.

    * Maintain alignment between cable pulling activities, civils works, jointing programmes and project milestones.

    * Monitor programme performance and identify risks, delays, resource constraints and operational challenges.

    * Manage cable pulling resources, plant, equipment and subcontractors to maximise productivity and operational performance.

    * Maintain accurate installation records, handover documentation and project reporting requirements.

    * Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety, quality, productivity and right-first-time delivery.

    Skills Required

    * Significant experience managing or supervising underground power cable installation and cable pulling activities.

    * Strong practical knowledge of LV and 11kV cable installation techniques and operational requirements.

    * Experience working within utilities, power, infrastructure, ICP, IDNO, DNO or construction environments.

    * Strong understanding of DNO/IDNO specifications, cable schedules, route drawings and cable installation standards.

    * Experience coordinating cable pulling, civils, jointing and project delivery activities.

    * Knowledge of cable handling methods, pulling tensions, bend radius requirements, duct proving and installation best practice.

    * Experience managing direct labour, subcontractors and specialist installation teams.

    * Strong understanding of construction safety management, risk controls and safe systems of work.

    * Ability to assess route readiness, construction progress and project delivery risks.

    * Strong organisational, problem-solving and decision-making skills.

    * Effective communication and stakeholder management capabilities.

    * Ability to challenge unsafe practices and escalate technical or programme risks appropriately.

    * Proficiency in Microsoft Office and operational reporting systems.

    * Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel regularly between project locations.

    * Experience of 33kV, 66kV or 132kV cable installation activities would be advantageous.

    Educational Requirements

    * SMSTS, SSSTS or equivalent safety management qualification, or relevant industry experience.

    * SHEA Power, EUSR, CSCS or relevant power industry accreditations are desirable.

    * Knowledge of NRSWA requirements and utility construction practices.

    * Relevant technical, electrical, utility or construction industry qualifications are advantageous.
