How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Location: Leeds/York

Contract Type: 12 months with scope to extend

    The Role

As a SHE Advisor, you will provide Safety, Health and Environmental (SHE) support across a major electricity transmission infrastructure project in Yorkshire. Working collaboratively with principal contractors, subcontractors, and project delivery teams, you will help ensure compliance with relevant legislation, company procedures, project requirements, and established SHE standards.

You will play a key role in promoting a proactive safety culture, identifying hazards, assessing risks, and supporting the implementation of effective control measures throughout construction activities. These may include substation construction, overhead transmission line installation, underground cable works, civil engineering, lifting operations, and associated infrastructure upgrades.

Through regular site engagement, inspections, audits, and constructive challenge, you will support the consistent application of safe working practices, drive continuous improvement, and contribute to the delivery of a safe and environmentally responsible project.

You will also champion SHE initiatives, promote positive safety behaviours, support incident investigations, and provide practical advice to site teams and management. A key focus will be ensuring that critical risks are effectively managed and that everyone involved in the project takes responsibility for maintaining high standards of health, safety, and environmental performance.

Monitor site activities and assess the effective implementation of SHE management systems, risk assessments, method statements, and associated control measures.
Support project supervisors in carrying out effective and proportionate site monitoring, ensuring that standards of supervision, intervention, and assurance are consistently maintained.
Promote occupational health and wellbeing, including mental health awareness, early intervention, and the prevention of work-related ill health.
Support the SHEQ Manager in communicating and implementing SHE campaigns, initiatives, and improvement programmes, including Stand Up for Safety and other relevant project initiatives.
Provide practical SHE advice and specialist support in areas such as plant and vehicle interface, safe systems of work, and safety from the electrical system, escalating specialist matters where required.
Review SHE performance data, incident statistics, inspection findings, and audit results to identify trends, recurring issues, and opportunities for targeted improvement.
Support the enterprise team with accident and incident investigations, ensuring that findings, lessons learned, and corrective actions are communicated effectively and implemented in a timely manner.
Engage with client representatives, contractor management, supervisors, and the wider workforce to promote positive safety behaviours, strengthen accountability, and support the development of an injury-free culture.
Encourage workforce involvement, open reporting, and constructive challenge to improve hazard identification, risk management, and learning across the project.
Monitor the effectiveness of corrective and preventative actions, following up on identified issues to ensure that improvements are implemented and sustained.
Support the sharing of good practice and lessons learned across the project to improve SHE standards and consistency of delivery.Essential Requirements
