How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

As a Mechanical Engineer in Wiltshire, you’ll maintain critical mechanical building services in a busy acute hospital, helping keep essential services running for patients and clinical teams.

You’ll work across heating, chilled water and ventilation systems, responding to plant failures in a live healthcare environment.

    The Role

    As the Mechanical Engineer, you'll:

Complete planned maintenance, inspections, servicing, fault-finding and reactive repairs on mechanical building services.
Maintain boilers, pumps, heating and chilled water systems, calorifiers and pressure systems.
Maintain ventilation equipment, including air handling units, extract systems, fans and filters.
Respond to plant failures, alarms, leaks and service interruptions, escalating risks where necessary.
Record maintenance work, repairs and compliance evidence in the CAFM system.
Follow permits, risk assessments, healthcare guidance and local safe systems of work. About You

To be successful as the Mechanical Engineer, you'll have:

A recognised mechanical apprenticeship or equivalent structured training, supported by a relevant Level 3 qualification.
Experience maintaining mechanical building services in a commercial, industrial, healthcare or similarly regulated environment.
Fault-finding and repair skills across a range of mechanical plant and systems.
Knowledge of permits, risk assessments and mechanical isolation procedures.
Confidence using CAFM or other maintenance management systems to keep accurate records.
Willingness to work rotating shifts, weekends and out-of-hours call-outs. What's in it for You?

Permanent, full-time position in Wiltshire, paying £35,000–£40,000 per annum.
33 days’ holiday, including bank holidays.
Up to 6% contributory pension scheme.
Access to training courses, qualification funding and mentoring opportunities.
Employee Assistance Programme, health line and virtual GP access.
Rotating weekday shifts: 07:00–15:30 one week, then 10:30–19:00 the next. Participation in the weekend and out-of-hours call-out rotas is required. A Standard DBS check and Occupational Health Questionnaire will be completed.
