How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Commercial Account Executive - Commercial Insurance

    Location: Manchester (Hybrid)

Salary: £50K-£80K plus competitive bonus and benefits

Are you an experienced Commercial Account Executive with a passion for winning new business, building strong client relationships, and growing a profitable book of commercial insurance business? We are partnering with a leading independent insurance brokerage seeking a commercially driven Account Executive to join its expanding team. This is an exciting opportunity to combine proactive business development with ongoing client management, giving you the autonomy to win new clients, develop lasting relationships, and maximise the potential of your portfolio.

    About the Role

As Commercial Account Executive, you will play a key role in driving business growth by identifying and securing new commercial clients, while taking ownership of the relationships you build. You'll be responsible for developing a strong pipeline of opportunities, delivering tailored insurance solutions, and growing your book through both new business acquisition and existing client development.

    Responsibilities:

    Business Development

Proactively identify, target, and secure new commercial insurance clients, building and maintaining a strong pipeline of opportunities.

Develop relationships with prospective clients across target sectors, including Construction, Logistics and Waste Management.

Generate opportunities through networking, referrals, market research, and other business development activities.

Manage the full new business sales cycle, from initial prospecting and fact-finding through to presenting solutions, negotiating terms, and securing new clients.

Work alongside the Development Executives and wider marketing and lead generation teams to identify opportunities and convert leads into business.

Achieve agreed new business targets, contributing to the brokerage's wider growth plans.

    Client Management & Account Growth

Take ownership of client relationships once new business is secured, delivering a high standard of service and ongoing insurance advice.

Build long-term relationships with clients, developing a thorough understanding of their businesses, risks, and changing insurance requirements.

Retain and develop your portfolio by identifying opportunities for additional cover, cross-selling, and account growth.

Work with insurers and partners to negotiate competitive terms and deliver tailored commercial insurance solutions.

Maintain strong client retention through proactive engagement, regular reviews, and a relationship-led approach.

    Who We're Looking For

Proven experience as a Commercial Account Executive or in a similar role within commercial insurance.

A strong track record of generating and winning new business, alongside the ability to retain and develop client relationships.

Experience building and growing a commercial insurance book, with a proactive approach to identifying new opportunities within existing accounts.

Experience providing commercial insurance solutions to the Construction, Logistics or Waste Management sectors would be advantageous.

Strong technical knowledge across commercial insurance products and the confidence to engage with business owners and key decision-makers.

Excellent communication, negotiation, networking, and relationship-building skills.

A commercially minded approach, with the motivation to achieve and exceed sales and growth targets.

    Cert CII or above desirable.

Join a growing, independent brokerage with a reputation for excellence.

Take ownership of your business development activity and build a portfolio you can grow over time.

Enjoy a supportive, development-focused culture with clear progression opportunities.

Benefit from flexibility, autonomy, and access to senior leadership support.

    What's On Offer

    Competitive salary and bonus scheme.

28 days annual leave plus bank holidays, holiday purchase scheme, and your birthday off.
