How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Fire Alarm & AOV Service Engineer Location: London and Greater London
There may be the odd trip outside London, so a love of the M25 helps.

Salary: Up to £50,000, depending on experience
Plus overtime, call-out payments, a company vehicle and a solid benefits package.

Do you know your way around fire alarms and AOV systems? Enjoy solving a tricky fault and leaving a site safer than you found it? We’d love to hear from you.

We’re helping a well-established, growing life safety business find a friendly, capable engineer to look after commercial and residential sites across London.

You’ll be out in the field, keeping systems in good working order, fixing faults and making sure everything is safe and compliant.

You’ll often be working independently, so it helps if you’re organised, comfortable speaking with customers and happy to take ownership of your day.

No superhero cape required—just good technical skills and a professional approach.

    What you’ll be doing
Servicing, maintaining and fault-finding fire alarm and AOV systems.
Getting to the bottom of faults and sorting them safely and efficiently.
Carrying out planned maintenance and reactive visits.
Taking part in the on-call rota and attending call-outs.
Completing service reports and certification accurately.
Keeping clients, site contacts and colleagues in the loop.
Following relevant British Standards and company procedures.
Taking good care of your vehicle, tools and test kit. What you’ll bring
Hands-on experience servicing fire alarm systems to BS 5839.
Experience with AOV systems—this is essential.
Strong fault-finding skills and a practical, can-do approach.
Experience in a field-based service role.
Confidence organising your own workload and working independently.
Good IT skills for digital job reports and service records.
A full UK driving licence. Nice to have
Experience with advanced or integrated fire systems.
Knowledge of smoke control systems, fan motors and inverters.
FIA qualifications or other relevant industry training. What’s in it for you?
Up to £50,000, depending on experience.
Company vehicle, fuel card, tools and test equipment.
    Overtime and on-call payments.
Pension, holiday allowance and ongoing training.
Room to grow and progress with an expanding business. If you’re a strong engineer who takes pride in doing a good job—and can bring a bit of personality along with your toolkit—we’d be keen to chat
