How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Business Development Manager

Pumps, Tanks & Fluid Equipment Hire

£50,000–£60,000 (DOE) plus uncapped commission and company car

South East – field-based with home working and regular regional travel

    Company Overview

A market leading equipment rental provider supplies pumps, storage tanks, filtration systems and specialist fluid-management equipment to construction and industrial customers.

Continued investment in its fluid solutions division has created a requirement for a Business Development Manager to win new accounts and accelerate growth across South-East England.

The business supports customers across construction, utilities, manufacturing, environmental services, infrastructure, oil and gas, and wider industrial markets. It combines an extensive rental fleet with experienced technical and operational teams to deliver safe, practical fluid-handling solutions.

    Job Overview

The Business Development Manager will drive new business and develop existing accounts across the assigned territory. Working alongside internal sales, operations and technical specialists, the successful candidate will identify customers’ fluid storage, pumping and filtration requirements before developing commercially appropriate rental solutions. Success will be measured through profitable revenue growth, new account wins and increased spend across existing customers.

    Key Responsibilities

Develop and execute a territory sales plan aligned with revenue and new-business targets by identifying and securing customers across construction, utilities, manufacturing, infrastructure, environmental services, oil and gas, and industrial markets.
Promote equipment hire for pumps, storage tanks, filtration systems and associated fluid-support equipment.
Conduct customer meetings and site visits to understand fluid storage, transfer, filtration and treatment requirements.
Manage the full sales cycle from prospecting and technical discovery through to quotation, negotiation and operational handover.
Build relationships with contractors, engineers, project managers, procurement teams and operational decision-makers.
Grow existing accounts through consultative selling, cross-selling and upselling.
    Person Specification

Proven field sales, business development, technical sales or account management experience and demonstrable success in winning new business, developing accounts and achieving revenue targets.
Experience within pump hire, tank rental, filtration, water treatment, fluid handling, industrial services or equipment rental would be highly advantageous.
Applications are also welcomed from transferable sectors such as power equipment, generators, lighting towers, plant hire, utilities equipment or any related products or sectors.
Experience selling into construction, utilities, manufacturing, infrastructure, oil and gas, petrochemical or wider industrial customers.
Able to understand customers’ operational challenges and coordinate appropriate technical solutions.
Strong prospecting, relationship-building, negotiation and presentation skills.
Based in the South-East of England within a 90 minute commute to Heathrow and willing to travel throughout the South-East territory.
    Full UK driving licence.
    Benefits

£50,000–£60,000 basic salary dependent on experience
    Uncapped commission scheme.
    Company car.
    Company pension.
    Private healthcare.
    25 days’ annual leave.
    Enhanced family-friendly benefits.
    Flexible field-based and home working.
    Comprehensive product and technical training.
    Ongoing coaching and professional development.
Genuine career progression within a growing national organisation.
    Next Steps

Applications are invited from Business Development Managers, Technical Sales Managers, Area Sales Managers and Account Managers with experience in pump hire, tank rental, filtration, fluid management, water treatment or related equipment-hire markets.
