How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

New Product Introduction (NPI): Support the successful introduction of new products into production, ensuring robust manufacturing processes are established.

Engineering Problem Solving: Investigate technical issues, conduct root cause analysis and implement effective corrective actions.

Design & Procurement Support: Provide technical input into design reviews, component selection and procurement activities.

Equipment & Process Development: Assist with the introduction of new manufacturing equipment, tooling and production processes.

Customer-Focused Engineering: Provide technical product support and ensure engineering solutions align with customer requirements and specifications.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, quality, operations and procurement teams to achieve business objectives.

    Ideal Manufacturing Engineer

Pneumatics Experience: Demonstrable experience working with pneumatic systems, including reading and interpreting pneumatic schematics, drawings and technical documentation.

Manufacturing or Engineering Background: Previous experience within an engineering or manufacturing environment, ideally involving assembly, testing, product development or process engineering.

Technical Problem Solving: Strong analytical and fault-finding skills with the ability to identify practical engineering solutions.

Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Attention to Detail: Highly organised with a strong focus on quality, accuracy and continuous improvement.

Customer Focus: Understands the importance of delivering engineering solutions that meet customer requirements and expectations.

Commercially pragmatic: The judgement to improve current processes and work constructively through specification discussions with customers.

Rail Industry Exposure (Desirable): Experience within the rail sector would be advantageous; however, candidates from other engineering and manufacturing sectors are encouraged to apply.
