How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Field Sales Manager – Timber / Wood Industry

North West England – Manchester, Cheshire, Lancashire & Merseyside
£38,000 – £42,000 basic salary + company car or £500 monthly car allowance + bonus

Are you an experienced sales professional with a background in the timber or wood industry? Looking for a role where you can take ownership of an established customer base while developing new business across the North West?

We’re working with an established business within the timber sector that is looking to recruit a Field Sales Manager to strengthen its presence across Manchester, Cheshire, Lancashire and Merseyside.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who understands the timber market, enjoys building long-term customer relationships and has the commercial drive to grow existing accounts and win new business.

    The Role

You’ll take responsibility for a territory covering the North West, managing an established portfolio of approximately 60 existing accounts from day one, while identifying opportunities to develop new business and increase sales across the region.

Working closely with customers, you’ll build strong relationships, understand their requirements and deliver a high level of service while maximising the commercial potential of your territory.

    Key responsibilities include:

Managing and developing a portfolio of approximately 60 existing customer accounts.
Proactively identifying and winning new business opportunities across the North West.
Building and maintaining strong relationships with timber merchants, importers and other relevant customers.
Conducting regular customer visits and developing long-term commercial partnerships.
Identifying opportunities to increase sales, grow account value and expand market share.
Managing your territory effectively, planning customer visits and prioritising sales opportunities.
Working towards sales targets and contributing to the continued growth of the business.
    About You

We’re particularly interested in speaking with candidates who have experience within the timber or wood industry, whether working with hardwood, softwood or both.

You may currently be working for a timber merchant, timber importer or another business supplying timber and wood products.

    You’ll ideally have:

Previous sales experience within the timber or wood sector.
Knowledge of hardwood, softwood, timber products or the wider timber supply chain.
Experience managing existing accounts while generating new business.
Strong relationship-building, negotiation and communication skills.
A proactive, commercially minded approach to sales.
The ability to manage a field-based territory independently.
    A full UK driving licence.
We’re open to candidates with a range of sales job titles, provided you have the relevant timber industry experience and a proven ability to develop customer relationships and drive revenue.

    Salary & Benefits

£38,000 – £42,000 basic salary, depending on experience.
Company car of your choice or a £500 per month car allowance.
Bonus structure with an OTE of approximately £5,000–£8,000 per annum.
Approximately 60 established accounts to manage from day one.
The opportunity to develop existing business and generate new revenue.
A field-based role with responsibility for your own territory.
    Interested?

If you have a background in timber sales and are looking for your next opportunity across the North West, we’d love to hear from you.
