How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Are you a Psychology graduate looking to gain valuable experience supporting young people with special educational needs? This Learning Support Assistant role in Central Birmingham will give you the opportunity to work with underachieving secondary school students who require additional guidance to access the curriculum and improve their academic performance. You will provide personalised 1:1 assistance and lead small-group interventions, developing your understanding of learning difficulties, adolescent development and effective SEN support strategies.

Deliver individual learning support to KS3 and KS4 students with SEN, helping them overcome academic difficulties and make progress towards personalised attainment targets.
Lead targeted small-group sessions to improve reading comprehension, written communication and mathematical reasoning for students working below expected levels.

You will gain experience of secondary classroom expectations, differentiated instruction and the practical application of individual SEN support strategies. Working alongside experienced education professionals will help you develop the skills needed to identify learning barriers, encourage student independence and contribute to improved educational outcomes. This opportunity is particularly suitable for graduates exploring Educational Psychology, specialist SEN provision or further training within secondary education.

SEN Knowledge – An awareness of how additional needs such as autism, ADHD, dyslexia and processing difficulties can influence academic achievement and classroom engagement.
