How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Registered Manager – Brand-New Children's Home

    Location: Ilkeston, Derbyshire

    Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time

An Exciting Opportunity to Lead a Brand-New Children's Home

Are you an experienced Children's Home Registered Manager looking for an exciting new challenge?

We are recruiting a Registered Manager to lead a brand-new children's residential home in Ilkeston. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and passionate leader to take ownership of a new service, build a strong team from the ground up and create a safe, nurturing environment where children and young people can thrive.

We are looking for an ambitious, child-focused professional with proven experience in children's residential care who can lead the development of the home, establish high standards and deliver outstanding outcomes for children and young people.

Previous management experience within children's residential care is essential, along with a strong understanding of Ofsted regulations, safeguarding and the Children's Homes Regulations.

    The Role

As Registered Manager, you will have overall responsibility for establishing and managing the new home, ensuring it provides high-quality, therapeutic and child-centred care.

You will play a key role in shaping the culture, recruiting and developing your team, implementing effective systems and ensuring the home is ready to deliver safe, nurturing and consistent care.

    Key Responsibilities

Lead the setup, development and day-to-day management of the new children's home.

Ensure compliance with Ofsted requirements, the Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and relevant quality standards.

Develop a positive, nurturing and trauma-informed environment for children and young people.

Recruit, lead, motivate and develop a skilled residential care team.

Establish policies, procedures, care planning systems and safeguarding processes.

Ensure children receive individualised care that promotes their safety, wellbeing, education and personal development.

Build strong relationships with families, social workers, local authorities and other professionals.

Monitor quality standards, undertake audits and drive continuous improvement.

Manage staffing, budgets, resources and the overall performance of the home.

Prepare the service for registration, inspections and ongoing regulatory requirements, as applicable.

    About You

To be considered for this opportunity, you will need:

Previous experience as a Registered Manager or in a senior management role within children's residential care.

A proven understanding of managing children's homes and delivering positive outcomes for children and young people.

Strong knowledge of Ofsted regulations, safeguarding and children's residential care standards.

A relevant Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare, or an appropriate equivalent qualification.

The ability to recruit, lead and develop a strong, motivated staff team.

Excellent leadership, organisational and decision-making skills.

A child-centred approach, with a genuine commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

The ability to manage the challenges of establishing and developing a new service.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced children's residential care professional who is ready to take the lead in a new service and make a lasting impact.

If you have the experience, leadership skills and passion to establish a high-quality children's home in Ilkeston, we would love to hear from you
