How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Part-Time Legal Secretary - Conveyancing

Experienced Legal Secretary looking for part-time hours that fit around your other commitments?

We're recruiting a Legal Secretary to support an established legal team in the Didsbury area. This opportunity would suit someone with a solid legal secretarial background who is confident preparing documents, supporting solicitors and keeping files and administrative tasks organised.

Previous conveyancing experience would be ideal, but it doesn't need to be your current area of work. If you've worked in conveyancing earlier in your career, or you're an experienced Legal Secretary in another area of law who is happy to get up to speed with conveyancing matters, we'd love to hear from you.

With pay of £14.50-£16.50 per hour, the option to work either two or three days per week and the possibility of the role becoming permanent, this could be a great opportunity for someone looking for part-time work within a professional legal environment.

What will you be doing as a Legal Secretary?

Providing day-to-day secretarial support to solicitors and fee earners, helping them manage their workload efficiently
Preparing legal documents, contracts, correspondence and other paperwork as required
Maintaining client files and ensuring documents and records are accurate and up to date
Supporting the administration of legal matters and helping keep cases progressing.
Answering incoming calls, dealing with client enquiries and passing on messages where needed
Covering reception, welcoming visitors and providing a professional first point of contact
Assisting with general office administration and supporting colleagues across the team when required
    What's in it for you?

£14.50-£16.50 per hour, depending on experience
Flexible part-time options: work two days per week, Monday and Tuesday, or add Friday to make it three days
14 hours per week minimum, with the option to work 21 hours
Consistent working hours: 9am-5pm, with a one-hour lunch break
Weekly pay and holiday pay during the temporary assignment
Smart-casual dress code in a professional working environment
Potential for a permanent position, depending on business requirements and suitability
Why would you join this company?

You'll be supporting an established legal team where good organisation, accurate administration and dependable secretarial support are valued.

The role offers a varied working day, combining legal secretarial responsibilities with client contact and general office support. With the choice of two or three working days, it's an opportunity to continue using your legal experience while working a part-time schedule.

    What we're looking for

    What's essential:

Previous experience working as a Legal Secretary within a law firm or legal environment
Experience preparing documents, managing files and providing secretarial support to solicitors or fee earners
Good IT skills, including confidence using Microsoft Word and other Microsoft Office applications
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
The ability to manage a varied workload and prioritise tasks effectively
Professional communication skills when dealing with clients over the telephone and face-to-face
Availability to work on Mondays and Tuesdays
    What's helpful but not essential:

Previous experience as a Conveyancing Legal Secretary
Experience with residential property transactions and conveyancing documentation, whether recently or earlier in your career
Experience in another area of law, with transferable legal secretarial skills and the confidence to learn new processes
Previous reception or general office administration experience
Availability to work Fridays as well, if you'd prefer three days per week
You don't need to be working in conveyancing right now. We're keen to hear from experienced Legal Secretaries who have conveyancing knowledge from earlier in their career, as well as those currently supporting solicitors in other areas of law. The key is having a solid legal secretarial background and being available on Mondays and Tuesdays.

    The Essentials

Salary: £14.50-£16.50 per hour, depending on experience
Hours: Two days per week minimum (Monday and Tuesday), 9am-5pm, with a one-hour lunch break. The option to add Friday for three days per week
Working hours: 14 hours per week minimum, or 21 hours if working Monday, Tuesday and Friday
    Location: Didsbury
Job type: Temporary, with the potential to become permanent

    To Apply

If you're an experienced Legal Secretary looking for part-time hours and have a background in conveyancing or another area of law, we'd love to hear from you.
