How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Are you a Site Engineer with experience in earthworks and drainage projects in a rail or highways environment?

Do you have an engineering degree, a valid CSCS card and a willingness to develop your technical skills on a major infrastructure scheme?

Are you looking for an opportunity to build your career on one of the UK's largest infrastructure projects, working alongside experienced engineers on HS2?

    Location: Brackley
Salary: £33,000-£38,000 per annum DOE + approximately £4,700 car allowance
    Benefits:
    ·Approximately £4,700 car allowance
·Travel allowance paid at 33p per mile
·Subsistence package for eligible candidates living more than 50 miles away
·26 days annual leave plus bank holidays
·Opportunity for long-term career progression and technical development on a major infrastructure project

    Role Overview:

My client is looking to appoint a Site Engineer to join the engineering team working on a section of HS2, supporting the delivery of major earthworks, drainage and civil engineering activities in the Brackley area.

This is an excellent opportunity for a graduate, junior or developing Site Engineer looking to gain valuable experience on one of the UK's largest infrastructure projects.

Although the role sits within the earthworks and drainage team, candidates do not necessarily need direct experience in these disciplines. Applications are welcomed from engineers with backgrounds in highways, structures or other civil engineering projects who are keen to broaden their experience and develop their technical capabilities.

Working alongside experienced engineering and construction teams, you will support the day-to-day delivery of site activities, ensuring works are completed safely, accurately and in accordance with project specifications.

The hiring team is particularly interested in candidates who demonstrate a positive attitude, strong work ethic and genuine willingness to learn. This opportunity would suit someone looking to establish a long-term career within major infrastructure delivery rather than simply seeking their next project.

    Key Responsibilities:
·You will support the setting out and delivery of civil engineering works, including earthworks, drainage and associated infrastructure activities.
·You will interpret engineering drawings, specifications and construction information to ensure works are delivered accurately and in accordance with project requirements.
·You will undertake site surveys, measurements and engineering checks, ensuring appropriate quality standards are maintained throughout construction.
·You will work closely with Site Agents, Section Engineers and subcontractors to coordinate daily site activities and support the successful delivery of construction programmes.
·You will assist with quality assurance documentation, inspections, site records and the identification and resolution of technical issues.
·You will promote safe working practices and ensure engineering activities comply with relevant health, safety and environmental requirements.

    Essential Requirements:
·A degree in Civil Engineering or a relevant engineering discipline is essential.
·Candidates must hold a valid CSCS card.
·Previous site engineering experience within civil engineering, highways, structures, earthworks or drainage would be advantageous, although graduate engineers will also be considered.
·A good understanding of construction drawings, engineering principles and site operations.
·Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary construction team.
·A proactive attitude, willingness to learn and genuine interest in developing a career in civil engineering.
·Candidates must already have the right to work in the UK, as visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

    Desirable Requirements:
·Previous experience working on major infrastructure projects, particularly within highways, earthworks or drainage.
·Familiarity with setting-out equipment and surveying techniques.
·Previous experience working on HS2 or other large-scale civil engineering programmes.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Site Engineer to gain experience on one of the UK's largest infrastructure projects, with opportunities for professional development, exposure to major construction activities and long-term career progression.

Whether you are a recent engineering graduate looking to take your first steps into the industry or an experienced Site Engineer seeking your next opportunity, we would be interested in hearing from you.
