How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Assistant Exams Manager
    Location: Wimborne
    Vacancy Type: Permanent, Part Time
Founded in 1923, Canford School is set in 250 acres of beautiful parkland on the outskirts of Wimborne in Dorset. The School, which has some 650 pupils aged 13–18, the majority of whom board, is amongst the country's top co-educational boarding and day schools. Canford has established a commanding reputation built on its excellent academic achievement, exceptional facilities, breadth of education and a fresh, lively approach. We are proud to employ talented and committed colleagues who share our values and contribute to the success of our thriving school community.
We are seeking a proactive Assistant Exams Manager to join our team. Working closely with the Exams Manager, you’ll play a key role in coordinating internal and external examinations, ensuring arrangements run efficiently and pupils are supported throughout the examination process. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong administrative skills who enjoys working in a busy environment and taking responsibility for a wide range of tasks.
    About the role
    You’ll be involved in:
    * Coordinating internal examination timetables and supporting external exam preparations.
    * Organising examination venues, seating plans, materials and access arrangements.
    * Liaising with staff, pupils, parents and external invigilators.
    * Supporting examination administration, including entries, results processing and post-results services.
    * Assisting with invigilator training, supervision and examination day logistics.
    * Maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with awarding body regulations.
    About you
    You’ll have:
    * Excellent organisational and administrative skills, with strong attention to detail.
    * Good IT skills and the ability to learn and use school management systems.
    * Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    * The ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines and work effectively under pressure.
    * A proactive, flexible approach and the confidence to take responsibility.
    * The ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
The hours of work vary term to term to meet the demands of the Exams schedule. Salary is based on an average of 30 hours per week, normally working 20 hours in the Christmas term, 30 hours in the Easter term and 45 hours in the summer term, plus an extra 2 weeks in the summer holiday period to support the external exam results service. Please note that working hours are currently under review and given the nature of the role, candidates will need to have some flexibility around hours, particularly during peak exam periods and results.
If you’re looking for a rewarding and varied role where you can make a real difference to pupils’ examination experience, we’d love to hear from you.
