How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Location: Southampton
Rate: £500 per day (Umbrella PAYE)
    Duration: 12 months+ / Ongoing
    Sector: Water Non-Infrastructure
Are you an experienced Project Engineer with a background delivering complex engineering projects within the UK Water sector?
Do you want the opportunity to play a key role in the delivery of major infrastructure schemes, providing technical leadership and assurance across a portfolio of multi-million-pound projects?
My client is a leading contractor delivering a significant programme of works as part of the AMP8 investment cycle across a major part of Southern Water's infrastructure network. Due to continued growth, they are looking to strengthen their engineering team with an experienced Project Engineer who can provide technical oversight, engineering assurance and delivery support across a range of complex Clean and Wastewater projects.
This is a key role within the project delivery function, working closely with Project Managers, Construction Teams, Design Partners, Supply Chain and Client stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to the required technical standards.
The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting projects from early design development through to construction and commissioning, ensuring engineering solutions are robust, buildable and aligned with client requirements. You will act as a technical authority across multiple schemes, challenging designs where required, managing engineering risk and supporting successful project outcomes.
The role requires someone with strong experience within the UK Water sector, gained either from a contractor or client-side environment, with the ability to work across multidisciplinary engineering packages.
    Key responsibilities include:
·Providing technical assurance and engineering governance across multiple concurrent water projects
·Supporting the delivery of complex multi-million-pound infrastructure schemes from concept through to completion
·Reviewing engineering proposals, designs and technical submissions, providing challenge and guidance where required
·Working collaboratively with design teams, construction teams, suppliers and subcontractors to ensure successful project delivery
·Ensuring engineering solutions meet client specifications, regulatory requirements and operational needs
·Supporting risk management, technical reviews and project decision-making throughout the lifecycle of schemes
·Managing interfaces between engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning activities
·Supporting project teams with technical problem solving and resolution of engineering issues
·Attending design reviews, progress meetings and stakeholder discussions with internal and external teams
·Ensuring compliance with health, safety, quality and environmental standards
·Supporting commissioning activities, testing, handover documentation and operational readiness
·Assisting with programme, cost and change management, including technical input into variations and commercial decisions
To be considered for this role, you will have:
·Proven experience delivering engineering projects within the UK Water/Wastewater sector (or process based industry such as Nucelar, pharmaceutical or Petrochem)
·Experience working on complex infrastructure projects, ideally within a regulated environment
·Strong understanding of project delivery from design through construction and commissioning
·Ability to review and challenge technical information and engineering solutions
·Experience working with contractors, consultants, clients and supply chain partners
·A strong understanding of engineering standards, assurance processes and project governance
