Sustainability Lead – Global Switch
At Dornan, we're looking for an experienced Sustainability Lead to support our growing portfolio of major Data Centre projects, initially across London and the Netherlands.
This is an exciting opportunity to take on a role that spans multiple projects, working closely with senior leadership and project delivery teams to drive sustainability throughout the full construction lifecycle.
Role purpose
To lead and coordinate sustainability delivery across Dornan's Data Centre projects, ensuring client requirements and agreed sustainability objectives are incorporated into design, procurement, construction, commissioning and handover.
The Sustainability Lead will provide a consistent approach across the client account, while working closely with the individual project teams to make sure sustainability commitments are practical, measurable and delivered.
This is intended to be a delivery-focused role, not simply a reporting function.
Key Responsibilities
Lead sustainability initiatives across multiple Data Centre projects in the UK and Europe.
Develop and implement project sustainability strategies aligned with client requirements.
Support sustainability throughout pre-construction, design, procurement, construction, commissioning and handover.
Collaborate with Project Directors, Engineering, Commercial, Procurement and Construction teams to embed sustainable practices.
Identify opportunities to reduce embodied carbon, emissions, waste and environmental impact.
Promote sustainable procurement, responsible sourcing and efficient use of materials, energy and water.
Manage sustainability KPIs, carbon assessments, reporting and compliance documentation.
Represent Dornan at client and project sustainability meetings.
Support BREEAM, LEED and other relevant environmental certification requirements.
Drive continuous improvement, sharing best practices and lessons learned across projects.
Knowledge & Experience
Strong understanding of embodied carbon, whole-life carbon and carbon reduction within construction and MEP delivery.
Knowledge of sustainable procurement, responsible sourcing, circular economy and waste management.
Experience with energy efficiency, water management, construction emissions and environmental performance.
Familiarity with Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs), sustainability reporting and carbon assessments.
Understanding of BREEAM, LEED and relevant UK and European sustainability regulations.
Knowledge of PAS 2080, ISO 14001, GHG reporting and recognised carbon assessment methodologies would be advantageous.
