How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Luma Education Recruitment is recruiting an SEN Primary Teacher for an independent specialist school in Totnes, South Devon. You will lead a small class of KS1 and KS2 pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs, many of whom have had a disrupted time in mainstream education. Lessons are planned around each child's EHCP targets, with literacy, numeracy and emotional wellbeing given equal weight. The post starts on a temporary basis with a route to a permanent contract.

    About the School

The school is a small independent specialist setting in the Totnes area and part of a wider group of specialist provisions. Class sizes are small, every class has teaching assistant support, and pupils follow a broad, personalised curriculum with therapeutic support built into the school day.

    The Role

    * Planning and teaching a broad primary curriculum to a small class, adapted to each pupil's EHCP targets and working level

    * Running phonics, reading and maths in small groups and 1:1, alongside the class teaching assistants

    * Setting up clear routines and a calm, predictable classroom

    * Using the school's wellbeing and behaviour approaches to help pupils manage their emotions and return to learning

    * Tracking progress and contributing to EHCP reviews and meetings with parents, carers and other professionals

    What You'll Need

    * QTS (or equivalent) with experience teaching KS1 and/or KS2

    * Experience teaching pupils with SEN, ideally including SEMH, autism or ADHD

    * Confidence adapting lessons for pupils working well below age-related expectations

    * Clear communication with parents, carers and external agencies

You'll be a patient, nurturing primary teacher who prefers small classes and builds steady, trusting relationships with children.

    Why Work with Luma?

    * Your own dedicated consultant – personalised support from someone who understands your skills, preferences and career ambitions.

    * Market-leading pay rates – competitive rates that recognise your experience and the value you bring.

    * Invest in your future – access to ongoing CPD, training and opportunities to develop your skills.
