How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Working Pattern: Hybrid – 12 office days every 4 weeks, with site visits as required
    Contract: Interim

    ## The Opportunity

LYNX Employment Services are recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Interim Construction Project Manager to oversee a portfolio of property capital projects in Wakefield.
This is an excellent opportunity for a technically experienced construction professional to take ownership of projects valued between £300,000 and £1 million, supporting the development and improvement of essential residential accommodation.
The immediate programme is expected to focus on children's homes and independent living accommodation, with several schemes progressing through technical design, procurement and construction stages.
We are particularly interested in candidates with a Building Surveying or Quantity Surveying background, combined with substantial client-side project management experience.

    ## The Role

Acting as the Client Project Manager, you will oversee construction projects from their current stages through procurement, contract award, site delivery and completion.
You will work closely with architects, quantity surveyors, consultants, contractors and internal stakeholders, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently and within agreed budgets.
    Key responsibilities include:

Managing multiple construction and refurbishment projects, typically valued between £300k and £1m.

Acting as the client's representative throughout project delivery.

Overseeing project scopes, specifications, tender pricing and contractor negotiations.

Managing projects under JCT contracts, ensuring contractual obligations are understood and maintained.

Coordinating architects, consultants, contractors and other professional teams.

Reviewing construction costs, valuations, financial commitments and project expenditure.

Securing necessary approvals in accordance with local authority financial governance.

Monitoring construction progress, quality, programme risks and health and safety compliance.

Preparing progress reports and providing clear updates to senior stakeholders.

Supporting projects through site delivery, handover and completion.
    ## About You

We are looking for an established construction professional who can confidently manage capital projects with minimal supervision.
    Essential requirements:

Approximately 10 years or more of relevant construction and capital project experience.
A degree-level qualification in Building Surveying, Quantity Surveying, Construction Project Management, Architecture, Engineering or a related discipline.
Proven experience acting as a Client Project Manager on construction projects.
Strong working knowledge of JCT contracts.
Practical understanding of construction processes, including site delivery stages.
Experience coordinating architects, consultants, quantity surveyors and contractors.
Ability to review construction costs, budgets, quotations and contract expenditure.
Knowledge of construction health and safety requirements, including CDM Regulations.
Strong communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
Understanding of local authority procedures, financial approvals and reporting requirements.
Ability to attend the Wakefield office for 12 days within every four-week period.
    Desirable experience:

Professional background in Building Surveying or Quantity Surveying.
Previous delivery of capital projects within local government or another public sector organisation.
Membership of RICS, CIOB, APM or another relevant professional body.
Experience using Concerto property management software (training can be provided).
Experience delivering residential, education or other public sector property schemes.

    ## Why Consider This Opportunity?

With an excellent £67.00 per hour PAYE rate, this position offers the opportunity to manage meaningful construction projects while benefiting from a hybrid working arrangement. You'll be joining an established property capital projects team, taking responsibility for schemes already in development and helping to move them through to successful delivery.
