How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Enjoy working with data? Turn numbers into insight.

Are you someone who enjoys getting under the skin of financial data, spotting trends and turning numbers into meaningful commercial insight? Do you have strong Excel skills and want to work in a role where your analysis genuinely influences business decisions?

We're working with a highly regarded professional services firm to recruit a Finance Analyst into its progressive Commercial Finance team. This is an opportunity to move beyond traditional, transactional finance and focus on what you enjoy most: analysing data, understanding the story behind the numbers and presenting findings that make a difference.

    The role

Working closely with Finance Business Partners, you'll analyse financial information from multiple sources to help the business understand performance, identify trends and make informed decisions. You'll support budgeting and forecasting, produce management information and contribute to client reporting, ensuring your analysis is accurate, insightful and delivered on time.

A key part of the role is bringing data to life. You'll create clear, engaging reports, charts and visualisations that help stakeholders understand the bigger picture, rather than simply presenting numbers.

Strong Excel skills are essential, including functions such as SUMIFS and VLOOKUP, with some exposure to macros beneficial. Just as importantly, you'll enjoy investigating data, identifying patterns and questioning what the numbers are telling you. There's also scope to develop your knowledge of SQL, databases and AI-enabled tools.

    What we're looking for

We're keen to hear from curious, enthusiastic and commercially minded individuals who enjoy working with data and communicating their findings. You could be studying towards ACCA, hold an AAT or another finance qualification, or be qualified by experience. Strong Excel and analytical skills are essential, alongside numerical accuracy, attention to detail and the confidence to ask questions. Professional services experience would be beneficial, but isn't essential. Above all, we want someone proactive, ambitious and keen to develop.

    Why join?

You'll be joining an established, highly regarded professional services firm known for its collaborative culture, commitment to its people and high professional standards. The Commercial Finance team offers the chance to work closely with stakeholders across the business, gain valuable commercial exposure and develop skills beyond traditional financial reporting.

You'll be encouraged to bring ideas, improve how financial information is presented and explore new approaches to analysis. With a supportive team, opportunities to develop and study support available, this is an excellent environment for someone looking to build a career at the intersection of finance, data and commercial decision-making.

    What's on offer?

    Salary: £35,500-£40,000, depending on experience.

Hybrid working: Typically two days per week in the office.

Study support: Support for relevant professional qualifications.

Development: Broaden your commercial finance, Excel, data analysis and visualisation skills.

Culture: An inclusive, collaborative environment that values fresh thinking and professional development.

    Interested?

If you enjoy working with numbers but are equally interested in the story behind them, this could be the ideal next step. We'd love to hear from people who combine strong technical Excel skills with curiosity, commercial thinking and a talent for turning data into insight.
