How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Rate: £220 Per Day Inside IR35

    Contract: Three - Six Months

SC Clearance is essential. Applicants without live SC Clearance will not be progressed

    The Role

I am working with a longstanding client with whom we have completed numerous contract and project assignments over the last three years. After 30 years in the sector they have carved out a fantastic reputation for quality and providing the very best service to their clients.

They are now looking for a Tech Bar Specialist to work with one of their clients on a contract basis. As previously stated, SC Clearance is essential for this role and I cannot accept any applications from candidates who do not have live SC Clearance.

    Responsibilities

As a Tech Bar Senior Specialist, you will provide hands-on support in a busy onsite environment, resolving complex user, device and application issues while acting as a senior escalation point for colleagues. You will help deliver a high-confidence walk-up service where ownership, communication and first-time-fix matter.

    Furthermore, you will:

Provide advanced walk-up and deskside support across Windows endpoints, Microsoft 365, identity, access, applications, networking and peripherals.
Investigate and resolve complex incidents and requests, escalating to specialist resolver teams with clear evidence when required.
Support VIP and senior stakeholders, maintaining calm ownership and timely communication during priority issues.
Build, rebuild, configure, swap and prepare end-user devices using approved provisioning and security processes.
Support stock, loan equipment, repairs, returns, asset records and chain-of-custody requirements.
Mentor Junior Specialists and contribute to knowledge articles, troubleshooting guides and consistent support standards.
Identify recurring issues and opportunities for proactive remediation, problem management, automation or improved self-service.
Support planned changes, onboarding events, device refresh and site activities as part of the Tech Bar rota.
Maintain high-quality ITSM records and ensure walk-up work is fully traceable in the service-management platform.

    Skills & Experience Required

Typically 3+ years of experience across Service Desk, desktop support, application support or End User Compute, including hands-on L1/L2 troubleshooting.
Strong working knowledge of Windows 10/11, Microsoft 365, Teams, Outlook, OneDrive, identity/access and endpoint support.
Experience with ITSM tools, incident/request management, queue control, priority handling and SLA-driven support.
Ability to troubleshoot independently, gather evidence and escalate with clear technical detail.
Experience coaching or mentoring less-experienced analysts and raising team quality.
Strong communication and customer ownership, including confidence with senior or demanding users.
SC clearance is required. Candidates must hold, or be eligible and willing to obtain and maintain, the required clearance.

    Desirable

Typically 3+ years across End User Compute, deskside, Tech Bar or Modern Workplace support with strong L2 troubleshooting capability.
Practical knowledge of Windows 10/11, Microsoft 365, Teams, Outlook, OneDrive, Entra ID and endpoint support.
Working understanding of Intune-managed devices, Autopilot, device enrolment, compliance and application deployment.
Ability to troubleshoot identity, access, application, hardware, networking, VPN, printer and peripheral issues.
Experience with ITSM tools, incident/request processes, asset records, stock control and clear user communication.
Confidence mentoring junior engineers and escalating complex issues appropriately.
SC clearance is required. Candidates must hold, or be eligible and willing to obtain and maintain, the required clearance.
Previous Tech Bar / walk-up support experience.
Microsoft 365, endpoint, Windows or ITIL certification.

This role supports a secure UK Government project. SC clearance is a mandatory requirement and working arrangements will reflect the needs of the secure service.
