With a strong reputation for delivering bespoke metalwork solutions, the business works on a variety of projects including architectural facades, rainscreen systems, security fencing and specialist metal fabrications.
They are now looking to recruit an experienced CAD Design Engineer with strong SolidWorks proficiency to join their engineering team. Job Description:
As a CAD Design Engineer, you will be responsible for producing detailed 3D models and manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks for a range of bespoke sheet metal and architectural projects.
The successful CAD Design Engineer will work closely with the wider engineering and fabrication teams to ensure designs are practical, accurate and suitable for manufacture.
Key responsibilities include:
* Producing detailed 3D models, assemblies and 2D manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks.
* Designing sheet metal components, fabricated assemblies and architectural metalwork.
* Supporting projects involving facades, rainscreen systems and bespoke metal products.
* Creating accurate drawings and technical documentation for manufacturing.
* Working closely with production and fabrication teams to ensure designs can be manufactured efficiently.
* Supporting design changes, modifications and continuous improvements.
* Contributing to projects involving security fencing, gates and metal enclosures where required.
Skills & Experience:
The ideal CAD Design Engineer will have:
* Strong proficiency in SolidWorks is essential, ideally with experience using its sheet metal functionality.
* Previous experience designing sheet metal components, fabricated products or architectural metalwork.
* Ideally 5+ years' experience in a CAD Design Engineer or similar design role, although candidates with 3–4 years' relevant experience will be considered.
* Ability to produce accurate 2D manufacturing drawings and 3D models using SolidWorks.
* Good understanding of fabrication processes and design for manufacture.
* Experience within architectural facades, rainscreen cladding or construction-related metalwork would be highly desirable.
* Experience designing fencing, gates or security enclosures would be advantageous.
* A practical, hands-on approach with strong communication skills and the ability to work within a busy manufacturing environment.
